Sears has been crashing for the past decade.

The retailer, which also owns Kmart, reported a loss of $454 million in the third quarter. The massive loss is the latest in 10 years of declining same-store sales.

Who shops at Sears? I haven't been in a Sears in 15 years.

It has become an over-rated Dollar Store. The only good thing about the Sears in our mall is you can get front row parking in front of it because their lot is empty.
KMart is completely falling apart. I've yet to see one that looked like it has been cleaned in the past decade.

I was disappointed when Sears closed at a mall I sometimes visit, only because I was in the market for tires and I couldn't "comparison shop."

The Sears near where my in-laws live still has a decent tire center - they do a darned good front end alignment.  I still go there every once in a while for the tools, but otherwise it seems to have largely become a discount place for mexicans.

I'll miss the Craftsman tool line. Maybe that will survive as a separate business.

Also have bought washers/dryers there in the past, but those are big-ticket items one doesn't need often.

That'd be nice.
