A group has been handing out abusive cards to London subway commuters deeming them "fat" and "ugly", according to Business Insider. The group calls itself "Overweight Haters Ltd" and apparently objects to overweight people because of the "enormous amount of food resources you consume while half the world starves," according to its calling card, posted on Twitter by NHS worker Kara Florish.

"We disapprove of your wasting NHS money to treat your selfish greed," the card continues, claiming that "it's not really glandular, it's your gluttony." Florish claims to have received one of the cards on Saturday and subsequently posted it to social media, stating that while she herself is "smaller than the national average," the cards could be upsetting to "people struggling with confidence and eating disorders," according to Yahoo! News. One woman reportedly broke down in tears after being given a card with "you're fat" printed on it, according to Twitter user Sean Knox.

Various companies have responded to the incident, including health and beauty company Dove, which is known for its natural beauty campaigns. Dove posted a message of support to Florish after she posted a picture of the offensive cards, telling her "we salute your bravery #SpeakBeautiful," while the Navabi fashion line created its own "You Look Great!" cards to hand out instead.

Navabi has also offered to give a free outfit worth up to £500 (about $754 U.S.) to the woman seen crying after being handed one of the cards.

Transport for London (TfL) has expressed its awareness of the matter, with director of enforcement and on-street operations Steve Burton telling CNBC that "all of our customers have the right to travel with confidence, and this sad and unpleasant form of anti-social behavior will not be tolerated."

British Transport Police have since launched an investigation into the matter and urge anyone who has received one of the cards to get in touch with details.
