The father's lawsuit mentions lac of stability control.
This is a very, very high performance version of the automobile, essentially a race car built to qualify for certain race series which require "street cars."
Cars that do have stability control, when pushed to the performance limits by professional drivers, will have the stability control turned OFF.
IOW it is assumed that when driving at that speed and degree of difficulty, the drivers will know what they are doing, and will not drive above 90 mph in a suburban commercial setting.
Those types of streets are all over SoCal. They have cars, delivery trucks, etc. Nobody in their right mind goes 94 mpg, period.
Sorry for the family's loss, but it was negligence by the driver, plain and simple. BTW my brother-in-law is a professional driver. I rode in a drift car driven by another professional driver. These guys have skills so far above ours that we cannot even imagine it.
Were the two wearing helmets when they drove 90+ mph on city streets? IOW were they looking out for THEIR OWN safety, when doing unsafe driving?
Most professional drivers (race, stunt, drift, precision, etc.) are strong advocates for safety. Jackie Stewart, Ayrton Senna, Niki Lauda, etc.
Driving at unsafe speeds on city streets is not safe.
