10th Grader Stabs 11th Grader During Class at Baltimore High School
BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore police say a student suffered life-threatening injuries when he was stabbed inside a high school.
Department spokesman T.J. Smith says a 17-year-old 10th-grader went into a third-floor classroom at Renaissance Academy High School about noon Tuesday. Smith says the teen stabbed a 17-year-old 11th-grader and ran away. The school was evacuated.
Smith says the victim was taken to a hospital. No other students were hurt.
The suspect was arrested near his home.
Smith says it was not known what led to the stabbing. He says class was in session when the stabbing occurred, but he does not know how many students were in the classroom.
Schools Police Chief Marshall Goodwin says investigators are looking into how the student got a knife into the school.
