You're right.  Trump's ego would never let him be a surrogate for somebody else.

Which means all these antics he's engaged in are in service to his own narcissism.  We've had a narcissist in the WH for the last seven years, and there are actually conservative voters who want to put another self-absorbed, self-serving vainglorian in the highest office in the land.

Anger is never a guiding angel for decision-making.

OMG!  That's twice in one evening we've agreed, Sinkspur.  Some sort of cosmic alignment or something.

Well, great.  You're not a Trumpkin.

I love it when there's some kind of agreement.

Nope, I've been very open that while I love that Trump is shaking things up, I'm not a Trump fan.  I don't particularly dislike him either.  But, then he's not the candidate at this point.  That could change.

Serious question about Trump. With such a crowded GOP field, and given that Trump is (according to some) a democrat, and given the weakness in the democrat field - a criminal, a communist, and three nobodies, why did Trump (who's really a democrat, after all) choose to enter the Republican primary race, instead of the democrat primary?

Anyone from the "Trump is disgusting" crowd willing to venture an answer?

For the same reason that Michael Bloomberg decided to run for NYC Mayor as a republican - because he didn't feel like waiting his turn in the DNC power hierarchy.  Trump is not a team player and he certainly isn't about to warm a bench and carry water for Clinton until she's had her chance and it's his turn next.

I love you Bigun, but that's not the answer. And if you think it is the answer, what proof (or any evidence, for that matter) do you have for making that claim?
I think Bigun is absolutely correct.

Here is my evidence
http://www.businessinsider.com/bill-clinton-donald-trump-phone-call-report-2015-8
"Four Trump allies and one Clinton associate familiar with the exchange said that Clinton encouraged Trump’s efforts to play a larger role in the Republican Party and offered his own views of the political landscape."

Devastating.

OK, but I still don't see how it applies.  Maybe it's a premise thing.

The great thing about politics is you can say anything, no matter how off-the-beam, and half the folks will still nod in agreement.

Politics, where not even truth is a defense.

Now I may have to reevaluate my position!   :smokin:

Just kidding!  I know in my soul it's true but I also no that I will never convince the true believers.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

Because he doesn't really WANT to be president!  He just wants to make sure Hillary is!
