Royals up 1-0 in the first inning.

KC never lets up.  This kid Syndergaard pitching for the Mets throws 100 MPH smoke, but they've gotten to him with a double and a couple of dinkers.

It really is.  This might be the kind of series that the drama builds and builds - which is unmatched in sports, in my view.  8-3 Mets now.  KC has a confidence at the plate, though.

To know baseball as it is meant to be played, as it was once played, is to appreciate something like this.  But, there will be handwringing over it, I'm sure.

Gotta tell you that I don't much care for the kiddie brand of baseball mostly played this day and time but moments like that bring back flashes of the good old days for me.

Wow, me too!!!!  My all-time favorite World Series saw so much of this.  1968 - Detroit Tigers v. St. Louis Cardinals.  So many great players.  Brilliant moves by the managers, especially Mayo Smith of the Tigers.  Just, just incredible.  My God... if only...

 LOL!

Mayo Smith moved Mickey Stanley to shortstop, a position he had never played (!) to get Al Kaline in the lineup.  No errors by Stanley and Kaline was Kaline, a true Hall of Famer.  Then there was Mickey Lolich pitching on two days' rest to defeat Bob Gibson in Game 7.  I lived on every single pitch listening on my handheld Motorola.  Again, my God!

**Correction** Stanley had two errors in the series but none led to runs being scored.
