The numbers are in and Merkel's policy of filling Germany and Europe with every Muslim who can hitch a ride is wildly unpopular. The Merkel Migration gets a thumbs down from most Germans. As does the open borders argument she made in the EU.
Four-fifths of respondents told pollsters that they were in favour of border controls in a new survey released on Monday.
Well over half - 59 percent - of respondents thought Chancellor Angela Merkel had been wrong to allow Syrian refugees to travel unhindered to Germany from Hungary.
That was a big turnaround from the last poll on the subject, in which 66 percent of people asked said it had been the right decision to let the Syrians in...
A major media push can override common sense, but then when the consequences kick in, they start waking up. And the consequences have been kicking in, in a big way.
Everyone can see that the majority of Muslim migrants are not sad Syrian toddlers, but angry Muslim men who stage riots and attack each other with guns, knives and iron bars. The crime rate in Germany has dramatically increased and the full numbers from this latest flood aren't even in yet. There's talk of 1.5 million and then 7 million.
The moral of the story is that public opinion on an issue can be surprisingly flexible. A big media push shifts numbers when there's no significant pushback. We've seen that happen in the US with illegal aliens. If you don't fight back, then yes the media will be scoring solid margins of support for the latest leftist disaster. Most people have a limited amount of interest in politics and if they don't hear the other side, then nothing happens.
