Good. Needed to be more of a competitive scramble anyway.

Just came to post it :P

Kevin McCarthy drops out of House speaker race

Washington (CNN)House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy has dropped out of the race to succeed House Speaker John Boehner, in a shocking move that reflected his inability to gather the support of the Republican caucus.

The move comes as House Republicans were in a closed-door meeting to select their nominee for speaker and came without any warning. Boehner has postponed the vote.

Members had no indication the move was coming. "Totally stunned," said Rep. Peter King on CNN.

He should have apologized and withdrawn the day after he blundered so badly on Benghazi.

If the contemporary Republican party been (capable of) practicing politics at a higher skill level, he would have not been elevated to prime candidate.

Will he also be stepping down from his current position as Majority Leader??

Are two House families in shambles?  Has her husband, and has his wife filed for divorce, yet ? They let it be an open secret, that they were doing the horizontal boogie, as they moved around the nation.

Since he is was the candidate for leadership, who had such horrific judgment as to put him forth, considering his equally horrific judgment ??

I listened to Jacob Chaffetz on Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity and I was not impressed.  He would not answer any of their questions - was talking out both sides of his mouth.

Hopefully with McCarthy out OTHER members come forward. Chaffetz was the hit man for Boner and a RINO. Webster is a moderate supposedly BUT they have better people than both of these. SOMEONE has to step up and be a LEADER in the CONSERVATIVE area. This is a big opportunity for conservatives and hope they do not follow the RINOGOP and blow it like they do with everything????? Good news is McConnell was last seen hiding under his desk. :silly:

It will break shortly the main reason McCarthy dropped out was getting caught playing FOOTSIE with another female rep. Just watch the NEWS. The RINOGOP cannot handle it at this TIME. There people are going down and do not need more ammo for the LIBS. :patriot:

I apologize. It wasn't Chaffetz I was listening to. It was Louie Gohmert.  That's what comes of listening on the run and popping in the middle of a conversation.

Sorry. Got to disagree, Sanguine. Just listened to Louis Gohmert. He sounded nearly incoherent speaking with Mark Steyn.

Oh goody! Now that piece of crap Boehner has decided to stick around for a while longer!

I am elated that he dropped out.  The last thing we needed was another RINO for Speaker. Playing "footsie" with a female rep shows that he was a RINO AND a slimeball!  Whoever takes the spot is going to have a tough go of it as voters are actually going to expect that something actually gets done and they will get blamed for any of Boehner's deals that were made prior to him leaving.

Totally agree.  It was weird because when I've heard Chaffetz before, I've been impressed.

He didn't seem to know which end was up.

No I think Steyn probably thinks Trump is a little incoherent but I don't want to speak for him.

Who, Steyn?

Mark Steyn substitutes for Rush occasionally. Steyn is one of my favorite undocumented immigrant Canadians (inside joke).

Anyway, Gohmert (who Hannity thinks is great) was not very good in the conversation I heard. He stumbled, hemmed and hawed, lacked charisma. I just think House republicans need to up their game in the Speaker position. We need someone with a dynamic personality and excellent communication skills in addition to solid conservative bona fides.

Come to think of it, Carly Fiorini would make a great speaker!
