White teacher reports student threatened her with rape; but SHE ends up getting punished

A white teacher in Long Island is suing her employer for racial discrimination after the school district did nothing to punish a black student for threatening the teacher — and her daughter — with rape.

“When I get done ramming you, I’m gonna bag your daughter, then ram the bitch through the whole gang,” the student allegedly told the woman, according to the suit filed in Brooklyn Federal Court, the New York Daily News reported.

Lynne Albuquerque, high school science teacher in Hempstead, notified school officials about the incident but alleges she’s the one who’s being punished, according to the Daily News.

After the student’s three-day suspension was reversed, Albuquerque was hit with disciplinary charges by Assistant Superintendent Rodney Gilmore and was accused of “instigating the incident,” according to the Daily News.

“Certainly to bring her up on charges after everything that happened is reprehensible,” Albuquerque’s lawyer, Steve Morelli told the Daily News.

Gilmore did not return a call from the newspaper, the Daily News reported.

The charges against Albuquerque were filed because she took a brief medical absence after the incident.

According to Newsday:

The suit says African-American school officials took no action against the student — reversing a three-day suspension and telling Albuquerque she “instigated” the incident.

They later opposed compensation for time she took off, and have now suspended her pending a disciplinary hearing on medical claims she made.

The two-week leave Albuquerque took as a result of being “traumatized” was the kind of brief medical absence “routinely” granted to African-American employees, but frequently denied to whites, the lawsuit claimed.

Morelli charges the Hempstead schools have a history of discrimination against white faculty and has filed two previous suits against the district on behalf of white teachers.

“It seems to me there is a serious problem in the district when white teachers and administrators are subjected to unfair treatment,” Morelli said.
