"House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) is bracing for what could be the toughest weeks of his speakership as several dozen conservatives in his party are threatening to topple him unless he is more ferocious with Democrats during the upcoming fiscal showdowns.

That internal feud has increased the chances that Washington, for the second time in two years, could stumble into a shutdown of the federal government.

The speaker’s lieutenants are openly girding for battle with the small but influential bloc of anti-Boehner conservatives who have signaled that if Boehner cuts any deal that they don’t like with congressional Democrats and President Obama, they could seek to remove him from the speaker’s post. It is a threat that Boehner and his allies are taking seriously.

“The people considering this are being totally irresponsible, but Boehner’s guys, we’re getting ready for whatever may come — not out of fear, but with exasperation about what some Republicans are willing to do to their own party,” said Rep. Peter T. King (R-N.Y.), who is part of the speaker’s circle of unofficial advisers.

Talk of unseating Boehner is not new, but this latest uprising is getting a jolt from the Republican presidential campaign, in which anti-establishment sentiment has driven two non-politicians, Donald Trump and Ben Carson, to the front of the pack."

Boehner is ineffective as Speaker and should face a motion to vacate the chair. The chair is effectively empty anyway. Might as well try to make it formal and vote to replace him with someone who will fight congressional Democrats, and especially the lame duck Obama.

Because, the next 15 months will be the most dangerous, as Obama, the temporary politician, will continue to steamroll Boehner and McConnell and saddle America with permanent fundamental changes.

I agree with you on this, but I can't help but think back when they tried to oust him the first time.  I just don't see this time around as any different and if they try to remove him again, he will again punish those that try to go against him.

If they can get rid of Boehner who would be a replacement?

You are right, Boner should go BUT he cannot be replaced with another RINO like McCarthy(CA). However, he will stay because the DEMS will keep him their. Can one blame them? He better for their agenda than Nancy. Best way to get any of these scum bag RINOS out is vote them out in their local district. If not they will stay unless TRUMP, CRUZ or CARSON becomes the next POTUS. That person then will have a "sit down" with the House and Senate. :thud:

Somehow, I just can see timid Carson shaking up Washington in the least; quite the opposite.  I see Washington walking all over him.

Exactly right!  The dems will keep Boehner in that chair if they have to staple him to it.

You can always tell a "true conservative." But you can't tell them much.

Boehner is preventing the true conservatives from shutting down the fedgov and getting the wrong result in the general elections, like 2006 and 2008.

The GOP doesn't exactly have a lot of standing or goodwill in the electorate, and giving Independents reasons to go the other way, is at stake. The dems and their media will make certain the GOP gets blamed.

We have seen this movie before.
