Americans thanking Americans

This past Saturday, my wife and I, and some friends, witnessed a boat parade dedicated to wounded warriors.  The Steelheaders (salmon fishers) took a group of wounded warriors from South Haven (60 miles SW of Grand Rapids) to fish for salmon on Lake Michigan.  They left at 5 A.M. and returned at noon in a procession of 27 boats, large and small.  Both sides of the channel were lined with people who kept applauding the whole time and waving American Flags until all boats had passed.  The procession was lead by a Medal of Honor winner and a fire boat which sprayed water.

What a great feeling to see these warriors honored for their sacrifices with no motive but to honor them.  I don't even think the news covered it.  Americans thanking Americans who had sacrificed so much isn't something you see or hear of anymore.  It made me proud that I had served my country and made me proud to think there were people who were still thankful for those who paid so much for their freedom.
