A former detective has alleged Scotland Yard deliberately “hushed up” the murders of 18 people by a serial killer who pushed them to their deaths on the London Underground during the 1970s.
Geoff Platt says drifter Kiernan Kelly confessed the killings to him while he was interviewed for murdering his prison cellmate in 1984.
Platt, 60, recalls interrogating Kelly in his new book The London Underground Serial Killer.

Geoff Platt claims drifter Kiernan Kelly (pictured) confessed to pushing 18 people to their deaths on the London Underground
Platt told the Daily Star: “He was high – high on adrenaline, testosterone…aroused. You could see it in his eyes.
“He was proud of that murder and when we went to speak to him he just confessed to killing 18 other people.”
Over the following days, police uncovered records of a number of deaths on the London Underground which appeared to tally with Kelly’s boasts.
But Platt says police chiefs chose not to take action in a bid to avoid public panic.
