Trump Gains Yet Shows Vulnerability
in a Crowded, Contentious GOP Race

ABC/WaPo Langer Research including internals

http://www.langerresearch.com/wp-content/uploads/1170a22016Politics.pdf

Controversial Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump leads the GOP primary field in a new ABC News/Washington Post poll, while also garnering enough support as a hypothetical independent candidate in the general election to potentially damage his party’s chances.
That’s even though a majority of Americans, including most Republicans, say Trump does not represent the Republican Party’s core values, and six in 10 overall – including three in 10 in his own party– say they wouldn’t consider supporting him for president were he the GOP nominee.
How long the Trump surge lasts is an open question; this poll was conducted Thursday through Sunday, mostly before his controversial criticism Saturday of Sen. John McCain’s status as a war hero. And Trump’s support was conspicuously lower Sunday than in the three previous days.

If you go to certain entertaining, follow the leader, flavor-of-the-week forums, Trump is huge.

If you poll the nation, he is the candidate that the most would not vote for.

But he picked up on Bush, much of it at the expense of Cruz and a couple of others.

It can all be found in these internals.

Just saw Trump refuse to rule out third party.  No doubt about if he thinks he can have as much fun third party he'll do it if he loses the GOP.  It would be nice if he did run TP and the GOP beat the hell out of him and Hillary.

As I mentioned in another post...

...maybe Bernie will go "independent" as well.

A 4-way race!

I seriously doubt the dems would break down in terms of discipline by doing that.

Nader probably cost them Florida, and the 2000 election.

The Republicans are another story. Perot in 1992, 1996 and Buchanan in 2000 not to mention libertarians and others have no qualms about blowing the election.

Wishful thinking.

Show me a poll taken around May or June of 2016, and I'll start taking notice, but until then, they mean nothing.

Below are actual 2011 & 2012 poll headlines.   Proof that polls this early in the election process are worthless, and largely driven by enthusiastic young ideologues, not the grass roots Republican voter.    And looking at these headlines - Thank God early polls are wrong.

Ron Paul leads in Iowa
Ron Paul Takes Lead in Iowa Caucus Poll
Ron Paul takes lead in latest Iowa poll
Top Ten: Ron Paul leads in another presidential poll
RON PAUL LEADS ALL REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES
Iowa GOP caucus 2012: Ron Paul moves into the lead
Paul placed second in the New Hampshire Republican primary
New Hampshire: Ron Paul up five points in poll

The reason polls are important now is money and media flows to the front runners.
