Negotiators at the Iran nuclear talks plan to announce on Monday that they have reached agreement on a historic deal capping nearly a decade of diplomacy that would curb the country's atomic program in return for sanctions relief, diplomats told The Associated Press on Sunday. The two diplomats said that a provisional agreement may be reached even earlier — by late Sunday. But they cautioned that final details of the pact were still being worked out and a formal agreement still awaits a review from the capitals of the seven nations at the talks. And senior U.S. and Iranian officials suggested that not enough time was left to reach a provisional deal by Sunday. All of the officials, who are at the talks, demanded anonymity because they weren't authorized to discuss the negotiations publicly. "We are working hard, but a deal tonight is simply logistically impossible," the Iranian official said, noting that the agreement will run roughly 100 pages.

Report: Iranian nuclear deal expected Sunday

By Kyle Balluck - 07/12/15 09:05 AM EDT

Negotiators in Vienna are expected to reach a provisional deal on Sunday to curb Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief, The Associated Press is reporting.

Two unidentified diplomats told the AP on Sunday that a provisional agreement will be sent to capitals for review. If there are no last-minute objections, the news service added, the deal be announced on Monday.

NBC's Andrea Mitchell, meanwhile, tweeted that a senior U.S. official said "major issues" still need to be resolved.

Sr U.S official says still have major issues to resolve tonight-still momentum is moving toward provisional deal + announcement tomorrow

According to Haaretz, Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency reported that an Iranian negotiator said Sunday that a draft of the agreement stipulates that all of the economic sanctions on Iran will be lifted. Temporary restrictions will remain in place for a period of time, the negotiator added.

Talks between Iran and the U.S., Britain, Germany, France, Russia and China last week were extended until Monday.

The parties appeared to have made progress on several sticking points in recent days, including the scope of inspections on Iran’s nuclear sites.

But negotiators have also encountered several last-minute obstacles, including Iran’s demand that a United Nations embargo on conventional weapons be lifted.
