Transgender woman who fired gun at a car because she was tired of waiting for NHS sex change is spared jail because male prison would be 'difficult' for her

A transgender woman who fired a BB gun at a car in frustration at waiting times for a sex change has avoided jail, because a judge agreed male prison would be 'difficult for her'.

Susan Bond, 56, told Doncaster Magistrates' Court she carried the imitation firearm for protection after suffering years of abuse over her appearance.

The court heard she had been drinking before she went into a car park where she fired the gun at a parked Vauxhall van and smashed the window.

David Sheppard, prosecuting, said: 'She accepted it was a reckless thing to do in such a built-up area and admits she didn't stop to see what damage had been caused.'

Bond admitted possessing an imitation firearm in a public place and admitted criminal damage over the incident in Doncaster in May.

Samina Rashid, mitigating, told the court in Doncaster, South Yorkshire: 'Bond has been waiting for a transgender operation and for the last two-and-a-half years has been dressing as a woman.

'She experiences a lot of difficulties when she goes out on a night from people.

'She carries the gun for her own protection and felt safer with it in her bag.'

Miss Rashid said Bond was planning on transforming from a man to a woman and had become frustrated about the length of time it was taking for her sex change operation.  ...

Still a man, baby! And still more than a little mentally unbalanced.

Rest of story at link.
