Israel hosting CTBTO convention near Tel Aviv; Iranian FM says Tehran wants 'nuclear-free world'

Despite bitter public disagreement on the issue, it was revealed Monday that Iran and Israel have been cooperating under the auspices of an international body set up to monitor a ban on nuclear bomb tests, according to Reuters.

Lassina Zerbo, executive secretary of the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), said during a visit to Israel that Iranian and Israeli experts have worked together regarding nuclear testing.

Israel is currently hosting a convention of the Test Ban Treaty Organization near Tel Aviv. The purpose of the conference is to analyze and draw conclusions from the results of an experiment that took place in November 2014. The experiment tested the readiness of the organization's monitoring inspectors to identify and monitor nuclear tests.

"Iran took part in the drill. Egypt was part of this drill. I think all the Arab countries were represented in Jordan for this exercise," Zerbo said, according to Reuters.
