NOBLEBORO, Maine, April 3 (UPI) -- A woman in Maine was arrested Sunday for allegedly running over her boyfriend with a car after saying she caught him attempting to sexually assault a 12-year-old girl, police said.
Lincoln County sheriff's deputies arrested 53-year-old Linda Currier and 48-year-old James Oliver after the two got into a fight at a Nobleboro residence, resulting in Currier allegedly hitting Oliver with a vehicle.

Oliver was transported to Maine Medical Center with a serious injury to his leg. Both adults had been drinking alcohol prior to the incident.

"We can't tell too many details about the case, there were other adults at the residence or in the residence so she wasn't completely alone in this particular situation," Lincoln County Sheriff Todd Brackett told WCSH-TV, Portland, Maine.

Oliver had previous convictions for sexual abuse of a minor and rape, the Maine Sex Offender Registry indicates. It's unclear if Currier was aware of Oliver's criminal past.

The 12-year-old girl was uninjured and did not require medical attention. She was taken from the scene by her family.

Currier was charged with operating under the influence and aggravated assault. Oliver faces charges of attempted gross sexual assault, unlawful sexual touching and failing to comply with the sex offender registration act.

"It is extremely difficult for us when someone chooses not to report or changes addresses without updating their information or things like that which is the case in this situation," Brackett said of Oliver's failure to register his address.
