Texas Sheik Condemns Resolution Protecting U.S. Law as Disgraceful Islamophobia

by Sara Noble • March 27, 2015

Mayor

Irving, Texas passed a resolution – largely symbolic – in support of state house bill 562 which prohibits foreign law and codifies the supremacy of U.S. and state law.

Sheik Omar Suleiman and some of his congregants are very upset about it and claim it is targeting Muslims and furthering Islamophobia.

The bill doesn’t mention Islam or religion or Sharia Law.

Some Americans are concerned that Sharia Law will eventually be eased into U.S. law, setting up a parallel system of laws, and they want to take a stand on the supremacy of the Constitution. It’s a reasonable concern given the way Sharia Law is practiced throughout the world.

The Islamists at the Irving meeting are simply trying to silence all opposition.

Omar Suleiman called it “the most disgraceful day as a citizen of Irving.” In other words, it’s disgraceful for the citizens of Irving to approve a measure that simply supports the Constitution.

Sheik Suleiman went on to says it’s the Anti-Sharia Law.

“The elephant in the room is that it’s the anti-Shariah bill.”

If true, so what? Rigid Islamists are their own worst enemies when they set up an antagonistic relationship and try to shut down First Amendment rights and U.S. law.

Irving Islamists have a non-binding Tribunal to settle civil disputes in the city. They say the Tribunal and their use of Shariah Law does not supersede U.S. law because it is non-binding and only affects civil law. An Islamic Tribunal might not have the force of law but it has force and it does bind the members of the Mosque.

People are afraid the Tribunal is the camel’s nose under the tent.

Since the Tribunal is non-binding, this resolution should have no effect on them. They are making it into a cause célèbre.

Mayor Beth Van Duyne said the resolution merely says no foreign law has standing over U.S. local, state and federal law.

“Respect them, obey them, embrace them,” she said.

This rhetoric – standing up for the Constitution – endangers them, the Islamists said.

It’s hard to understand how that is possible. Instead of insulting Americans who are concerned about Sharia law, Islamists might want to consider using a more considerate tone.

Sharia Law, if enacted as a legal system, is in direct opposition to Americans’ rights under the Constitution. The way Sheik Suleiman is using Shariah Law, it is not threatening the Constitution.

However, Sharia as a legal system would erode our laws. They cannot co-exist.

Sadly, the Constitution only won in Irving, Texas by 1 vote with a 5-4 ruling.

All of this religious and racial turmoil because of one thing. Because we elected a subversive, America hating, black Muslim to the White House, whose sole aim is to disrupt America by empowering the left.

And he's been pretty successful so far.
