MSNBC Host: ‘I Hope Trayvon Martin Whooped The S*** Out Of George Zimmerman’ [VIDEO]

Posted By Chuck Ross On 1:29 PM 02/25/2015 In | No Comments

Melissa Harris-Perry, a weekend host at MSNBC, said at a recent event at Cornell University that she hoped Trayvon Martin “whooped the shit” out of George Zimmerman during their fatal 2012 encounter in Sanford, Fla.

Harris-Perry made the remarks at a Martin Luther King, Jr. commemoration speech at Cornell on Monday during a talk titled “We Can’t Breathe: The Continuing Consequences of Inequality.”

“I hope he tried to stay alive,” Harris-Perry said of Martin, who was 17 years old when Zimmerman shot him after being assaulted.

“I hope he knew that he lived in a state with a ‘stand your ground’ law. I hope he whooped the shit out of George Zimmerman.”

“He encountered a stranger who was prepared to kill him,” Harris-Perry continued. “You know how I know? Because he killed him.”

Harris-Perry’s remarks came a day before the Justice Department announced that it will not press federal civil rights charges against Zimmerman in the case. The federal investigation began shortly after the shooting as many believed that Zimmerman, who is half-Hispanic, targeted Martin because he was black.

Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder and manslaughter in July 2013.

Harris-Perry’s remarks asserting that Martin was an aggressor stand in stark contrast to widespread claims Martin supporters made to the contrary as the case developed. It was initially claimed that Zimmerman followed Martin for no reason and shot him in cold blood. And even after evidence emerged that Martin assaulted Zimmerman and was straddling him and punching him in the face, many supporters denied that Martin was aggressive.

Harris-Perry’s also erred in her claim that “stand your ground” — a law which allows citizens to use deadly force in the face of an imminent threat without having to retreat — had anything to do with the case. Zimmerman never used that defense during trial. He claimed simple self-defense, based on evidence which showed that Zimmerman was on his back on the ground with Martin on top of him when he fired the fatal shot.

According to The Cornell Review, which published video from Harris-Perry’s talk, she also quipped that “We think of [Martin Luther] King as the one great voice, like Beyonce.”

“What would Dr. King, a pacifist, think of those who champion violence in his commemoration?” asked Cornell Review’s Casey Breznik.

But he couldn't catch lead, so now he's dead.
Why?  Well, because I'm a bastard, that's why.

I'm certain Dr. King the non-violent minister, would have been ecstatic with the hope for violence Harris-Perry.  This just shows how far blacks have separated themselves from his beliefs and really don't honor them any more.  Today Dr. King would have little support from the black community who have chosen their new leader in Al Sharpton.

She is insane.

She's merely jumping on the comment by Trayvon Martin's mother...made the other day.

There is still racism in America.

Unfortunately, it is concentrated mostly in the black "community."

If blacks were ever to give up the ghost of bigotry they harbor for whites, they would find a wonderfully welcoming community of Americans who couldn't give a sh*t what color they are.

Amen ac!  The same for hispanics - I just want to live in a world where we stop labeling people based on the color of their skin - true equality!

I have a theory and perhaps I'm not the first to come up with it.  I first encountered the idea a number of years ago in a piece by John Stossel.

Quote
"Harvard University's Implicit Association Test is supposed to measure racial bias. The test flashes pictures of white and black faces and words like "evil" and "nasty," plus words like "joy" and "wonderful," and evaluates whether people associate different words with certain races.

The test is given quickly, so that test-takers don't have time to think consciously."
. . .
The researchers also found about half of the black people who took this test showed bias against blacks.

My theory is that many black people look in the mirror and see a "black person".  I don't think white people do this (see a "white person") unless they're on the far left of the political spectrum.  Perhaps this is my own bias, but I don't see a white guy when I look in the mirror.  I see a guy who doesn't necessarily care for the way the years (and his habits!) have treated his body, but I also see a guy who loves his family and tries to do the right thing even if he isn't always able to do so.  Oh, and the guy in the mirror happens to have lighter colored skin.  I think that many black people look in the mirror and they first see darker pigment and can't get past it.  (Think of "Black Pride", "For Us By Us", etc.)  I understand that many American blacks have difficulty dealing with the history of how their ancestors were mistreated.  It's natural to harbor resentment over the injustices of the past, but allowing those resentments to steal the future is self-defeating.

Seems it would be very easy to manipulate the test under those guidelines.

It would depend solely on the expression of the face and the message in the eyes.
