Signs Of The Times: Chicago Police Have Domestic Black Site

By Joseph R. Carducci, February 27, 2015.

We talk a lot on these pages about being tough on crime and making sure those who have violated justice are held accountable for their crimes. However, wanting to see justice done and playing by a totally different set of rules is another matter entirely.

Chicago Police Use ‘Black Site’

There is a report in The Guardian that reads like it comes straight out of a country behind the iron curtain during the height of the Cold War. Instead, this is right in our back yard. The Chicago Police Department has apparently been keeping suspects at an off-grid facility (called Homan Square) since the late 1990’s. At this location, they have held people as young as 15 up to 24 hours, where they have been denied counsel and were subject to beatings.

Someone unlucky enough to be sent/held here will not be booked upon arrival. Nor will they have their records entered into the public databases. There has also been an allegation of at least one person dying in one of the interview rooms at Horman. The man in question is said to be John Hubbard, who died on February 2, 2013, supposedly due to heroin intoxication.

The Guardian piece also discusses the arrest of Brian Jacob Church, in 2012 on terrorism charges. Along with several others, Church infiltrated a NATO Chicago summit, and was then held for 17 hours without being read his Miranda rights. He was also denied access to an attorney and only booked after those 17 hours, when he was finally sent to a nearby police station.

Completely Unconstitutional Program, Targeted at Conservatives?

In many cases, even lawyers who have attempted to gain access to Homan Square are usually turned away, even if their clients are indeed located inside. There have also been several former police contacts to confirm the use of Homan Square including a former police chief superintendent and a recently retired detective.

I guess this is just par for the course today. Police departments and governments do basically whatever they want. Even the worst crime and the worst criminal deserves a fair trial including access to counsel and all other due process rights. Having a black site that is used for domestic ‘criminals’ and kept off the grid should not happen. It should not be allowed except in extreme circumstances.

Sadly, we have already seen how the Obama Regime is continuing to push for defining more and more conservative leaning men and women as domestic terrorists. Could this be what they intend to eventually use such black domestic sites for? Honestly, I also have a really hard time believing that Chicago is the only city right now with such a place. Not given the rapid militarization of police forces all over the country.

What do YOU think about all of this?
