A riot broke out in a private prison holding illegal aliens last week; the ordeal ended with the transfer of thousands of prisoners. According to authorities, the prison is now 'uninhabitable'.
Some 2,000 prisoners in the McAllen, Texas facility in Raymondville refused to have breakfast or to report to their work detail. Shortly after, inmates flooded out of the prison. They ripped up tents and began setting fires around the prison.
State, local and federal agencies were dispatched to the prison and set up a secure perimeter to prevent escapes. The FBI took over command of the federally contracted facility, and worked towards bringing a peaceful resolution to the events.
Several guards and inmates sustained minor, 'insignificant' injuries. No one was seriously hurt or killed. According to MTC, the facility was damaged and is now uninhabitable. More than 2,800 inmates are being transferred to other facilities.
Hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens have been crossing the borders in Texas since last year. Detention centers in the state have been overwhelmed by illegals, many of whom are part of drug cartels.
And still, there doesn't appear to be any immigration control or reform resolutions in sight. The search for the American dream has now turned into Americans' worst nightmare.
