Rahm Emanuel To Reward Cheating Little League Team With ‘Championship’ Rings

By Brian Anderson, February 14, 2015.

When the all-black Jackie Robison West team was stripped of their title by Little League Baseball this week for cheating, lefties and black activists alike went ballistic. It’s apparently terribly racist to hold black kids to the same set of standards and rules that all the other teams must abide by. Never fear, Chicago’s Mayor, the great white dope Rahm Emanuel, is going to fix this “wrong” by giving the little cheaters their very own championship rings.

The Chicago Sun Times reports:

Mayor Rahm Emanuel plans to give a Little League championship ring to each member of the beleaguered Jackie Robinson West All Stars baseball team.

The mayor, who earlier this week appealed to the president of the Little League International to reverse his decision to strip the kids of their hard-earned championship title, plans to present the rings to the team at a ceremony at next month’s City Council hearing.

“Mayor Emanuel believes it is unfair for the organization to have punished the children who did nothing wrong,” said a mayoral source.

That’s not entirely true. They did do something wrong. Some of the kids on the team cheated because they were ineligible to play for Jackie Robinson West due to residency restrictions. And the team as a whole cheated because they fielded players that shouldn’t have been allowed to participate.

“These young men demonstrated tremendous character both on and off the field, and Chicago will honor them as the champions they are,” Emanuel said.

I’m starting to think liberals have no idea what the word “character” means. Not following the rules in order to gain an advantage is not an example of good character. I will give Emanuel the benefit of the doubt, he never actually said the team exhibited “good” character. He only said “tremendous” which could also mean “tremendously bad” character.

And of these championship rings:

Shortly after Jackie Robinson West won the Little League World Series title last summer, Emanuel sought private donors to fund championship rings for the young men. The rings, which take months to manufacture, were already slated to arrive in Chicago in the coming weeks.

Each ring bears the player’s name, their jersey number and the number 42, in tribute to Jackie Robinson — league’s namesake.

Awesome. Way to reward cheating. Everyone is trying to say that some “dirty dealing” adults are responsible for this disgrace and that the kids shouldn’t be punished, but there’s several reasons why this doesn’t make sense.

Basically, they put together an all-star team of players from outside of the area it represents. The ineligible kids were aware that they weren’t supposed to be a part of Jackie Robinson West the same as the rest of the team knew it. On top of that, the teams that followed the rules shouldn’t be punished for losing to a team that cheated.

The bottom line is, JRW broke the rules. The best way to avoid the heartache of being stripped of a title is to win one without cheating.

Shameless vote mongering and race pandering.  Chicago pols are troubled by neither even when combined with a cheating element.
