CNN’s Chris Cuomo Calls Black French Terrorist An ‘African-American Man’

By Brian Carey, January 10, 2015.

This is what happens when we get hung up on language.

Many, many moons ago, it was considered good and proper to stop referring to black people in the United States as “black” and start calling them “African-American.”

That’s fine. For blacks who are actually American.

However, members of the media who opt for hypersensitivity to such an extent that it becomes an integral part of their subconscious can misapply politically correct terminology, like “African-American.”

That happened yesterday on CNN when Chris Cuomo referred to black French terrorist Amedy Coulibaly as an “African-American man.” He called him that because he didn’t want to say “black.”

Coulibaly is of African descent, but he’s not American.

Fortunately, Anderson Cooper (who is not “homosexual” but “gay”) was there to correct him.

“Not American,” Cooper said, setting the record straight. “The man of African descent.”

“Right, African descent,” Cuomo replied. “Thank you, sorry. Anderson.”

Maybe we can give Cuomo a pass because he just buried his father.

Exit thought: The beautiful white actress Charlize Theron is from South Africa but now lives in the United States. Technically, she’s African-American.
