Ezell Ford: Deceased Black Man Being Turned Into Mike Brown 2.0

By V. Saxena, January 2, 2015.

A new Mike Brown has risen from the ashes of the “Black Lives Matter” movement, ladies and gentlemen. On August 11 (two days after the Brown shooting), an LAPD officer fatally shot 25-year-old “unarmed” black man Ezell Ford during an altercation in which Ford knocked down the officer and tried to swipe his weapon. According to the Daily Caller, the release of his autopsy this past week “has sparked protests across Los Angeles.” Why? The following snippet from the LA Times explains:

The report showed Ford was shot three times — once in the right side, once in the right back and once in the right arm. The gunshot wound on his back showed that the surrounding skin had a “muzzle imprint,” according to the autopsy, suggesting that the shot was made at very close range. The autopsy said the back and side gunshot wounds were fatal.

That Ezell Ford was shot in the back and that there was a muzzle imprint has protesters believing that something nefarious occurred. This despite the fact that according to use-of-force experts who spoke with the LA Times, neither fact takes away from the police’s account of the event, which the folks over at Bearing Arms have described as follows:

Ezell Ford knocked down a LAPD officer and was in the process of taking control of the officer’s weapon in order to murder him with that weapon.

The officer continued fighting Ford to control the muzzle with one hand, while yelling for assistance from his partner and drawing his backup gun with his other hand.

The officer who was not struggling with Ford drew his weapon and fired two shots into the armed suspect (Ford) who was attempting to kill the officer on the ground. One of those shots was not life-threatening. The other would prove to be a fatal wound.

At the same time, the officer fighting for his life with the armed Ford was able to get his backup gun and place it against Ford’s back, also firing a shot that would prove to be fatal.

So why did the LAPD stop Ford in the first place? The Root explains that it was a simple “investigative stop” – one that Ezell Ford voluntarily chose to not comply with. And thus a struggle ensued and he winded up dead. Not surprisingly, his family has begun screaming racism and has even filed a whopping $75 lawsuit against the LAPD. The family also claims that Ford was killed “while lying on the ground,” and that he “was complying with officers.” Sound familiar?

All the evidence in the case suggests that the same thing happened with Ezell Ford that happened with Mike Brown. An unarmed black man chose to disobey orders, create a fuss and then attack police officers. And in doing so, an unarmed black man winded up dead.

Yet again we have protesters acting out in the following sort of manner:

The only additional fact to keep in mind is that Ezell Ford was allegedly mentally ill. Mind you, this would not excuse him attacking the police . . .
