A Gallup Poll has Barack Obama with a 43 percent approval rating for December after six years in office, putting him well below where Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan were at this point.

Former President Bill Clinton had a 67 percent approval rating at this point, while Reagan was at 48 percent. It’s true that George W. Bush at 37% was below where Obama is now, but then, he was hardly considered popular at this juncture, after six years of being constantly under assault by Democrats.

Earlier this week, a CNN/ORC poll gave Obama a 48 percent approval rating — his highest since May 2013. And the president’s high approval ratings come amidst a growing confidence among Americans in the expanding economy, with growing jobs numbers to match.

The CNN/ORC poll was conducted Dec. 18 – 21 and surveyed 1,011 Americans. It has a margin of error of plus or minus three percentage points.
