“Peaceful” Protesters Smash Windows In Oakland Christmas Eve

 While many people were gathering for their annual traditions on Christmas Eve, about 150 people marched in downtown Oakland, California, Thursday night in a protest called “No Time Off” demanding an end to police shootings. Protesters blocked traffic and smashed windows at a BevMo and a Subway near Jack London Square. The city’s Christmas tree was also vandalized and a fire was started in a trash bin on Broadway. A video streamer captured protesters screaming,
 

“The idea is to give no time off to police in the context of racial discrimination and state violence happening everyday.” 

Aside from Ferguson, Missouri, and New York City, where two of the original incidents occurred earlier this year, Oakland has seen some of the most violent protests.
