Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) was on “The Kelly File” tonight, where he said “civilized Islam needs to step up” in the wake of a horrific attack in Pakistan.
Officials say at least 141 were killed at a Pakistani school in an attack led by the Taliban.
“Civilized Islam has to stand up and say, ‘This is an abhorrent form of religion, and it doesn’t represent our religion,’” Paul said.
Paul also had some fiery words on Vivek Murthy, whom the Senate confirmed as surgeon general on Monday.
“This will be the first surgeon general we have who thinks it’s his job to bash the Bill of Rights,” he said, explaining that Murthy has called guns a health issue.
“I really don’t think we need a doctor, paid for by the government, who’s going to stand up and lecture us on the Bill of Rights and that he wants to limit the Second Amendment.”
Megyn Kelly also asked Paul about a possible 2016 presidential run following Jeb Bush's announcement that he will "actively explore" that option.
The Kentucky senator said that he will wait a few more months before making that decision.
