Just hours before the government might run out of funding, House leaders delayed a vote on final passage of the so-called “cromnibus.” The vote was supposed to take place around 2:00, however leaders called for a recess, likely indicating they're concerned about the vote count.

A GOP leadership aide told Roll Call that “leadership teams are still talking to their respective members” and indicated that they still intend to vote today. However, Roll Call notes it's unclear whether they would vote on the cromnibus, or a short-term continuing resolution.

The government funding bill has taken hits from all sides. Conservative republicans are angry it does not block President Obama’s executive amnesty, and Democrats are concerned about the bills’ riders, specifically those dealing with Wall Street and campaign finance regulations.

A procedural vote to advance the measure barely squeaked by earlier in the day. Federal government funding expires at midnight.
