Gillespie just conceded.

Republican Ed Gillespie on Friday conceded to Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-Va.), concluding a hard-fought race that turned into a surprise nail-biter as a wave of support for GOP candidates swept the county.

Warner claimed victory Tuesday night but Gillespie, saying it was too close to call, waited until Friday to concede at a news conference in Springfield.

A statewide canvass of votes was to conclude at noon Friday, although those results will not be certified until Nov. 24. At last count, an election attorney for Warner’s campaign said Thursday, Gillespie was losing by 16,761 votes out of more than 2 million cast.

Man, I feel for the guy.

I want to throttle the idiot Libertarian candidate who took 53 thousand votes in this race! THAT'S my emotion!

I used to think this way but I've had a recent change of heart. We can't go around whining and complaining about candidates, calling them RINOs, traitors or worse, 364 days per year and then suddenly, on one day a year, expect everyone to forget that and jump on that bandwagon again.

This isn't fantasy football, where you root for your team no matter what, when it is game day.
