Reported by the Washington Free Beacon The Virginia Senate battle between incumbent Sen. Mark Warner (D.) and his Republican challenger Ed Gillespie remains too close to call, and the Warner campaign is calling in Democratic super lawyer Marc Elias to deal with the legal fight that is sure to ensue.

Roll Call’s Niels Lesniewski reported on Wednesday morning that the Warner campaign would be holding a conference call with Elias later in the day.

Elias has become the go-to lawyer for Democrats across the country when their campaigns face legal problems.

The vote tally between Warner and Gillespie remained close on Wednesday morning. With 99 percent of the vote counted, Warner is ahead by just over 12,000 votes.

Warner delivered a speech on Tuesday night in which he all but declared victory in the election, but Gillespie says that he will not concede the race. Virginia election officials began to canvass the results on Wednesday morning.

Elias’ most notable legal fights was the 2008 recount in Minnesota.

Critics of Elias during the Minnesota recount said that he strong armed “inexperienced election officials” to disregard the states election laws and reconsider absentee ballots that were rejected on election day. Al Franken wound up beating Norm Coleman by just 300 votes.

Speaking of "paying attention", there is an opportunity, a starvation strategy, if you will.  Many of the red areas on the various maps a supply areas, specifically food and energy.  Produce, grain and meats can be "grown" to limited levels.  Enough to provide to family and neighbors but cut off to city dwellers.
