Obama calls Republicans “Un-American” in last interview before election.
Barack Obama went on the Frank Ski Show Monday at 4:10 PM.
President Barack Obama attacked Republicans as ‘un-American’ in an interview on Monday.
Obama made the incendiary remarks while speaking to Frank Ski on WHUR-FM, the radio station of Howard University in Washington, D.C.
Howard University bills itself as the “nation’s premier Historically Black College and University.”
Obama called Republicans “un-American” for efforts to ‘restrict the franchise’ of voting by calling for voter ID laws and moving to curtail early and weekend voting.
In April of this year, Obama agreed with a supporter at a Democratic Party fundraiser in Texas who yelled out the Republicans were ‘un-American’ for trying to tighten voting laws. Obama did not say the words himself, though.
“In an equally forceful rebuke to Republicans, Obama accused the GOP of seeking to restrict access to voting in Texas and elsewhere. When one donor shouted out that the GOP effort was “un-American,” the president concurred.
““How is it that we’re putting up with that?” Obama asked incredulously.”
In Monday’s interview, Obama uttered the “un-American” charge unprompted by the interviewer Frank Ski.
Obama conducted the interview to fire up the Black vote in an effort to prop up the gubernatorial candidacy of Maryland Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown who is in an unexpectedly tight race with his Republican opponent Larry Hogan. Hogan is white. Brown, like Obama, is African-American.
The Washington Post reports Brown and the Democrats are making a hard, race-based push to get African-Americans to vote in Tuesday’s elections.
WHUR, according to its on air pitch to advertisers, caters to an African-American audience of about 500,000 in the D.C. metro area including the suburbs of Maryland and Northern Virginia.
That Obama is reduced to race-baiting Republicans in the election to determine the shape of the last two years of his presidency shows how far he has fallen as a politician and as a president from the man who introduced himself to the nation in 2004 with these words:
“It is that fundamental belief — it is that fundamental belief — I am my brother’s keeper, I am my sisters’ keeper — that makes this country work.
“It’s what allows us to pursue our individual dreams, yet still come together as a single American family: “E pluribus unum,” out of many, one.
“Now even as we speak, there are those who are preparing to divide us, the spin masters and negative ad peddlers who embrace the politics of anything goes.
“Well, I say to them tonight, there’s not a liberal America and a conservative America; there’s the United States of America.
“There’s not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there’s the United States of America.
“The pundits, the pundits like to slice and dice our country into red states and blue States: red states for Republicans, blue States for Democrats. But I’ve got news for them, too. We worship an awesome God in the blue states, and we don’t like federal agents poking around our libraries in the red states.
“We coach little league in the blue states and, yes, we’ve got some gay friends in the red states.
“There are patriots who opposed the war in Iraq, and there are patriots who supported the war in Iraq.
“We are one people, all of us pledging allegiance to the stars and stripes, all of us defending the United States of America.”
