Rich white suburbs wants to split from Baton Rouge
« on: October 20, 2014, 04:53:35 am »
More than 18,000 residents in the suburbs south of Baton Rouge, the state capital of Louisiana, have signed a petition calling for the creation of a new city called St George.

The community is currently part of East Baton Rouge Parish, which also includes the city of Baton Rouge itself.

The campaigners claim they simply want to improve the quality of local schools and to ensure that taxpayers - who currently contribute roughly two thirds of funds to the parish - have more control over the money they contribute to fund services.

Opponents insist that the proposal is also motivated by race and class. They point out that the new city of St George would be 70% white - and that the mainly poor and black community in the rest of Baton Rouge would face crippling cuts to education if it lost the taxpayers who provide most of its revenue.

The St George campaign says it needs less than 2,000 signatures to hit its goal of 20,000 signatures which would enable it to put the independence vote on the ballot. But some major business interests in the community including a casino have said they would rather stay part of the parish.

The BBC's Anna Bressanin spoke to passionate supporters on both sides of the debate.

If it is "Chocolate City" to begin with, as Ray Nagen said, why is anyone worried if the whites want to move out?  They aren't wanted in Nalons.

They're fine with whites moving out... just don't try to take your money with you...

Indeed.

But if the poor white people try to get out (see: upstate New York), it's all “You wouldn't last a day without us!”

From the article:
[[ Opponents insist that the proposal is also motivated by race and class. ]]

Yes, of course it is.
Why deny it?
The smart move there is for whites to break away to form the new St. George. Why work and pay a boatload of taxes for the dysfunction of the blacks?

There is nothing inherently wrong with wanting to "be with your own kind".
Indeed, it is the normal human condition.

It is only the left that tries to distort this.
Actually, it's mostly the "white left".

I checked the demographics for East Baton Rouge Parish:
White - 50.2%
Black - 45.0%
Asian - 2.7%
Looks like it could pass with a close vote.

This might even be "sold to" some of the black population of the parish, by reminding them that once the whites "leave" to form their own town, blacks will have an unchallengeable numerical majority in Baton Rouge...

But don't be mealy-mouthed about it.
Speak the truth, and the truth shall "set you free."
In this case, literally.

Really impress the blacks by reminding them Detroit got better representation in the legislature once whites moved out.  They also got total corruption which is something they might not want to mention.
