Obama Has Said Quite Enough
Nothing like a beheading to stifle his normal urges.

One would think that the beheading of a woman on American soil would warrant some sort of comment from the President Obama. At the very minimum, he could offer a few kind words. As of this writing, he has not said word one about it. His silence speaks volumes.
After all, the beheading of Colleen Hufford in Moore, Oklahoma, by a former co-worker at Vaughan Foods who had recently converted to Islam occurred only weeks after the beheading of two American journalists, James Foley and Steven Sotloff, in Syria. Surely this was the source of inspiration for Alton Nolen (a.k.a. Jah’Keem Yisrael), who had images of a beheading and of himself giving the ISIS salute on his Facebook page.
But the FBI says, “Nothing to see. Nothing to see,” and declares, you guessed it, an act of workplace violence à la Fort Hood. When you consider that Nidal Malik Hasan shouted “Allahu Akbar” and carried business cards with inscription of SoA (Soldier of Allah) as he gunned down 12 soldiers, a civilian, and an unborn child, what violent act does a Muslim have to commit on American soil for the federal government not to consider it an act of workplace violence? By this logic, the Oklahoma City Bombings could have been called an act of workplace violence. As could the 9/11 attacks. But to characterize those attacks in such a way would have been beside the point.
This brings me back to the FBI. The Obama administration’s rationale for not commenting on the death of Colleen Hufford is that it is currently being investigated by the FBI. Well, when I last checked the FBI is also conducting an investigation into the shooting death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. These legal niceties apparently do not apply in the Brown case because President Obama not only commented on an ongoing FBI investigation, but did so in front of the UN General Assembly no less. Ditto for when Obama saw fit to comment into the ongoing investigation by the Cambridge Police Department into the arrest of his friend, Harvard Professor and PBS personality Henry Louis “Skip” Gates, Jr.
It could be said that Brown probably reminds Obama of the son he never had in the way Trayvon Martin did. If Obama feels a paternal bond towards Brown and Martin, then what sort of feelings does Collen Hufford invoke? Does Hufford remind Obama of his maternal grandmother? You know the one he referred to as “a typical white person.” (By the way, I’d still like to know what a typical white person is.) Or does she simply remind him of a typical red state voter who bitterly clings to guns and religion? If only Hufford had advocated for government subsidized contraception and had been insulted by Rush Limbaugh for it then perhaps Obama would have been roused from his complacence. Instead, Colleen Hufford was a loving wife who had been married for 30 years, mother and grandmother who had a passion for hockey. She was making the best of things despite losing her home in a tornado last year. In a tribute page set up by friends, Hufford is remembered as “a beautiful soul who will be remembered for always having a smile on her face and a kind word to offer.” Unfortunately, in Barack Obama’s world, the Colleen Huffords of the world do not merit comment, much less condolence.
All things considered, it may be for the best if President Obama doesn’t comment on the matter. If Obama were to comment, he would be bound to lecture us “not to jump to conclusions” just as he did following the Fort Hood massacre nearly five years ago. He would also very likely remind us that we are not and never been at war with Islam or declare that Alton Nolen isn’t Islamic.
Let us remember that when Obama commented on the death of James Foley, he looked like a man perturbed that he was late for the back nine. When it was found out that Obama had indeed gone to the links, all he could say for himself was that he “should have anticipated the optics.” Foley’s mother, Diane, would tell Greta Van Susteren of Fox News that she and her husband John were “just disappointed as Americans” in Obama. If President Obama were to get around in between rounds of golf and expensive state dinners to comment on the death of Colleen Hufford he would surely find a way to act stupidly. He has said quite enough already.
