In a recent panel discussion on HBO’s Bill Maher program, the actor became increasingly aggressive in defending Islam. Studies, statistics, and near daily news coverage supports the indisputable fact that a great many so-called “moderate” Muslims support the continued prosecution of women and homosexuals. Why Affleck and so many others in the Hollywood industry refuse to call out the bigotry and hatred that sadly dominates so much of the Islamic faith throughout the world, is troubling. Affleck’s arrogant and ignorant defense only helps to prevent radical Islam from modernizing and becoming more tolerant of differences. In essence, the actor is condoning the violence and brutality that marks the worst aspects of a religion responsible for so much pain and suffering in the world today.
Why would Affleck, who grew up near Boston, a city so recently traumatized by the impact of murder done in the name of Allah, be so willing to defend Islam?
The Hollywood star attempted to claim that “radical” Islam represents a very small minority of the billion plus Muslims in the world today. Such a claim is a pathetically inaccurate generalization that even a cursory examination of the facts makes clear.
For example, there are currently seven major Muslim dominated nations that practice the death penalty for those found guilty of homosexuality. Several more mandate lengthy prison sentences and/or court directed mutilations against the offender.
“Honor killings” of women and children remain an integral part of Sharia Law, with such murders having taken place by Muslims in the United States.
Women can be put to death, or disfigured, for coming forward with accusations of rape against a man, or men.
Mutilation of female genitalia remains a common practice among practicing Muslims.
a 2009 Gallup study found British Muslims to have a “zero tolerance” for homosexuality. Other polls have shown over 60% of Egyptians approve of attacks on Americans. A third of Palestinians approved of the slaughtering of Jewish families. 1 in 4 British Muslims approve of attacks against British soldiers.
The data goes on and on and on, data that Affleck and other Islamic apologists choose to ignore, or for some other reason, unable to understand.
And how can we forget the images of Muslims celebrating in joy over the news of the September 11th, 2001 bombings? Apparently Mr. Affleck chooses to forget:

Kudos to the members of the panel, including Bill Maher, who hold firm and continue to reveal the actor for the clueless apologist that he is. I believe Mr. Affleck will be starring in an upcoming Batman movie. One must wonder if his version of Batman doesn’t actually fight crime, but merely sits around defending it. Or perhaps his arrogance is a byproduct of the billions of dollars the Saudi government and other oil rich Middle East nations have been pouring into Hollywood over the last decade?
