IRS Commish: “Whenever We Can, We Follow the Law”

Isn’t it nice of our overlords to condescend to occasionally follow the laws that are only binding on us, not on them. Good to know that Obama’s IRS is opportunistically lawful.

Just think about it. It could be entirely lawless. Just like their boss.

The IRS Commissioner has admitted that the IRS breaks the law when it wants to. A thorough discussion should follow on when the IRS does not follow the law.

“Whenever we can, we follow the law,” IRS Commissioner John Koskinen told the House Ways and Means subcommittee on health on Wednesday.

Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas), who leads the subcommittee, immediately expressed his concern with the remarks.

“I encourage you to follow the law in all instances,” Brady said.

Koskinen, who was confirmed as head of IRS last December, has repeatedly faced lawmakers’ ire over the agency’s targeting of conservative groups.

Now try telling the IRS that you follow the law whenever you can. This attitude is very revealing. The difference between a free country and a totalitarian state is the universal rule of law. In a tyranny, laws are binding on the subjects, not on the institutions of governments that subjugate them.
