John Kerry Hands American Sovereignty to the United Nations

By Onan Coca   / 27 September 2013   / 554 Comments

Secretary of State John Kerry has defied the Senate and decided that he, not the representatives of the people of the United States, knows best about foreign treaties. Back in March, Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK) introduced an amendment to a budget bill that said the Senate would not support the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty. His amendment passed by a vote of 53 – 46, with Republican opposition to the treaty unanimous, and several Democrats also voting with the Republicans. Does that matter to Secretary of State Kerry or his boss, President Barack Obama? No way. On Wednesday September 25, some 6 months after the Senate vote, John Kerry signed the treaty and added the United States to the list of countries who were joining the agreement.

Interestingly, our neighbor to the north and good friend, Canada, has chosen not to sign on to the UN treaty over concerns about private gun ownership in Canada. See, the Canadian government is worried that by signing the treaty, the law may inhibit the ability of lawful Canadian gun owners to carry their own firearms. Concern over gun rights has kept Canada from signing on, but our leadership has rushed headlong into this treaty with nary a concern about the rights of our citizens. The decision by Canadian leaders to stay out of the treaty has of course angered the left and their liberal media, who are using the fact that “even” the United States has signed on as a weapon to bludgeon Canada’s conservative government. But what the liberal Canadian media is not saying is that no treaty can be agreed upon by the Executive Branch without 2/3 support of the Senate.

He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur;         -- Article 2 Clause 2 of the Constitution

It is highly unlikely that 2/3 of the Senate will vote to ratify the UN Arms Trade Treaty, and therefore not likely that the USA will be a part of this treaty. So, no worries, liberal Canadian media – you can still use us as an example of a barbaric gun nut country.

It is interesting to consider, though, that the Obama administration would enter into this treaty after an explicit Senate vote condemning our involvement. The terms in the Constitution are fairly clear, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, and obviously the Senate did not consent.

KerrysignsThis just continues the long train of abuses committed by the Obama administration against the American people, where our representatives are simply ignored, and the will of the President is treated as paramount. On issue after issue and in example after example, the Democrat Party and the “watchdogs” in the media allow President Obama to act as a Monarch. Whether it’s with his excessive abuses of the Executive Orders issued from his office, or his decisions to delay the implementation of law with hardly a by or leave from the legislature. The President’s job is to “enforce” the law, not to delay laws that have been passed by the legislature.

The examples are piling up, and the conclusion is clear this is the most Imperial Presidency in over one-hundred years. The President “rules” by his word. He simply makes proclamations, and they come to pass – no debate, no negotiation, and no recourse for the American people. He rules by fiat.

Are we ready to end this? Are we ready to work to elect leaders who will listen? Are we ready to stand up with the men and women who are already fighting to end this pseudo-dictatorship? Leaders like Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Mike Lee, Justin Amash, Thomas Massie, Paul Broun, Tom Graves, and others are fighting for our liberty. Our politicians can’t win when they fight the good fight, unless we, the American people, stand up and make ourselves heard. They can’t win without our overwhelming support.

That’s the beauty of our system… one man should not be able to take control of the government because we’ve set up a system of checks and balances. But the balance is undone. We grew complacent and allowed our Executive Branch to become too strong. To fix the balance, we must support those souls brave enough to make their stand in the legislature, and our support must be bold and unwavering.

Otherwise, the Obama administration will keep signing treaties like this one, because they don’t care what our representatives are saying. They don’t care what we’re saying.

Hitler planned for a thousand year Reich where he would be remembered for all time.  Are Obama's plans as grand? :da man:

And the next (republican) President should simply unilaterally withdraw the US from that abomination of a treaty.
