Schumer, Trump to meet at White House as shutdown nears
By Jordain Carney - 01/19/18 12:44 PM EST

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) is expected to head to the White House to met with President Trump as the government barrels toward a shut down.
A source familiar confirmed the meeting, which was first reported by The New York Times, saying Trump "reached out" and invited the Senate Democratic leader.
 
The source added that the meeting "should be happening shortly."
 
The powwow comes as Congress has less than 12 hours to prevent a partial government shutdown scheduled to start on Saturday.

Trump should tell Chucky that a Schumer Shutdown is fine with him and send him on his way. Donny should also call him a shithole a couple times during the meeting.

I think the media will try hard to make it look like he caved.   He's been vague enough in his statements over the last few weeks that almost anything could pass and he could claim victory.

I'm not concerned about that.  The media has been putting on a full-court press trying to make it seem like Trump has not been fighting for this bill.

Of course, that is a lie, but this timely reaching out to Chuck will leave them no room to allege that.

But I think Trump is inviting Chucky over to discuss the Schumer Shutdown to shut down any belief that he's not reaching out.

Let’s be honest about one thing - if Congress was really interested in passing a budget and pushing a conservative agenda, McConnell could invoke the nuclear option and get his majority in line.

That option only requires 51.  With 50, they have Pence to break any potential tie.  I’m not talking about this specific bill, but legislation in general.
