About 12 years ago one of my favorite students got caught doing 110 in a 55 on his motorcycle. The Trooper didn't give him a ticket. He made him call his father and explain what he was doing. When the kid got home his father handed him a pair of scissors and made him cut up the license. I laughed when i heard about it.
@verga LOL! That still works out here...
Worst day of my life was the day I got busted and the Deputy knew my old man. I tried to talk him out of the violation off the get go, but the most of our conversation was me trying to convince him to take me to jail instead of calling my old man. But no, he called my old man, got him out of bed at 3 am...
Something like 20 years later, I get a call at 3am, because a guy I know is a cop, and has my boy nailed down...
There are times when the veil thins, and you can feel the weight pf generations of your fathers - And I felt that connection while I uttered the words "Put the boy on the phone, I'll straighten his dumb ass out..." And as my boy stammered: "Hey Dad... But I didn't... no, sir I don't... Yessir... yessir... Ok, I will. No sir. I won't [...]," I remember my time in his shoes like it was yesterday.
