That one Animals live album where they did "Bo Diddley", "Boom Boom", "Almost Grown", "Let It Rock" I think too is a real gem, maybe we don't know how good it is still.

@TomSea

I think everybody in the western world between the ages of 13 and 30 knew how great The Animals were by 1965. I have always considered the Rolling Stones to be the equivalent of a Animals cover band, and most of that was due to Burton, himself. He was and is batshit crazy, but in a good way when it came to music.

Learned that one of Stevie Wonder's earliest songwriting collaborators passed on 15 April: Sylvia Moy.
She was the woman who helped save Wonder's career at Motown, after "Little Stevie Wonder's" voice
began to change and the company was uncertain what to do with him, even considering dropping him
at one point. Moy audaciously asked Mickey Stevenson, Wonder's producer at the time, to let her
work with the kid. Stevenson gave in. And when Moy went to see Wonder and he played her a piece
of a new song he'd been tinkering with---based on the driving beat of the Rolling Stones' "(I Can't
Get No) Satisfaction," which impressed him greatly when he opened a few dates on their 1965 tour
---she took it home and finished the bulk of it, with Motown staffer Henry Cosby putting a finishing
touch on.

The result:

Stevie Wonder, "Uptight (Everything's Alright)"

Sylvia Moy and Stevie Wonder also co-wrote one of his greatest love songs . . .

Stevie Wonder, "My Cherie Amour"

RIP Ms. Moy, and thanks for saving Stevie Wonder's career . . .

Ahhhh,Maurice Willliams and the Zodiacs! I was going to what was a local dancehall back then where they appeared often to drink, try to pick up girls, and fight. I was between 14 to 17 years old,and could buy pints of whisky from the waiters that worked the floor and booths. My older brother had lost his drivers license for drunk driving,so he would get me to drive the car for him. If I was caught driving underage with no license,it was a small fine. If he was caught,he would have gone to jail. He would usually hook up with a female that had her own car,so I had his 51 Chebby all to myself after that.

The world was a fun place back then.

I had tickets to see these guys in December 1972 but I got the flu and had to miss the
concert; I never got another chance to see them. Here's something from them much
much later, before they quit reuniting for good after the death of drummer Connie Kay . . .

Wildwood New Jersey, we have discussed before, apparently, he has a song for it. They capitalize on Wildwood's nostalgic appeal nowadays;  even dubbed the doo wop capital.

Quote
Wildwood Days
Bobby Rydell

Spring'll soon be gone (Wildwood days), summer's coming on (Wildwood days)
And I'm-a dreaming of (Wildwood days) lotsa summer love
And all I think about (Wildwood days) after school is out (Wildwood days)
Heading down the shore (Wildwood days) to have a ball once more

Whoa whoa whoa whoa those Wildwood days, wild, wild Wildwood days
Oh baby, every day?s a holiday and every night is a Saturday night
Oh those Wildwood days, wild, wild Wildwood days
And then those party lights wild, wild Wildwood nights.

Say baby you'll be mine (Wildwood days) cause it's kissing time (Wildwood days)
Gonna twist again (Wildwood days) like remember when
Sleeping on the beach (Wildwood days) seven days a week (Wildwood days)
Rocking every night (Wildwood days) till the early bright

Whoa whoa whoa whoa those Wildwood days, wild, wild Wildwood days
My baby, every day's a holiday and every night is a Saturday night
Oh those Wildwood days, wild, wild Wildwood days
And then those party lights wild, wild Wildwood nights

Whoa whoa whoa whoa those Wildwood days, wild, wild Wildwood days
Oh baby, every day's a holiday and every night is a Saturday night

Oh those Wildwood days, wild, wild Wildwood days
And then those

Just happened to notice those birthdays in my newspaper (aka liberal rag) today.

I had a pile of vinyl stolen from me in the 1990s, including Fontessa. I replaced that
and as much of the others as possible on CD post haste. I also have these MJQ albums:

Django
No Sleep in Venice
Third Stream Music
Blues at Carnegie Hall
Blues on Bach
In Memoriam
The Complete Last Concert
Three Windows

. . . and a small library of Milt Jackson outside the MJQ, including . . .

Milt Jackson, "Gerry's Blues"

Milt Jackson, "Opus de Funk"
