Vice President Pence’s chief of staff and four aides get Covid, a week after Kamala aides were infected

Vice President Mike Pence‘s chief of staff, Marc Short, was diagnosed with Covid-19, but Pence remains healthy and “will maintain his schedule in accordance with CDC guidelines.”  Four other Pence aides also tested positive and have begun quarantine and contact-tracing.

Pence’s press secretary announced the news on Saturday: “Today, Marc Short — Chief of Staff to the Vice President — tested positive for Covid-19, began quarantine and assisting in the contact-tracing process.  Vice President Pence and Mrs. Pence both tested negative for Covid-19 today, and remain in good health.”

The statement added: “In consultation with the White House Medical Unit, the Vice President will maintain his schedule in accordance with the CDC guidelines for essential personnel.”

Pence’s senior political adviser, Marty Obst, also tested positive. Obst is not a government employee.

President Trump learned of Marc Short’s infection after returning to the White House last night following two raucous rallies — including one in battleground Pennsylvania, where Trump supporters outnumbered Biden supporters at the Biden “rally.”

President Trump learned of Marc Short’s infection after returning to the White House last night following two raucous rallies — including one in battleground Pennsylvania, where Trump supporters outnumbered Biden supporters at the Biden “rally.”

The President held three rallies yesterday, not two, and none were in Pennsylvania. 

Tens of Trump supporters did outnumber Biden supporters at Biden's event, but this was a grassroots effort.

Yesterday's Trump rallies were in North Carolina, Ohio and Wisconsin.
