Stick your collective head in the sand all you want to; that won’t stop it from coming, itll just mean you have no input on the final result.

We will have absolutely no input on the final result of where we will be taken regardless of whether or not we surrender our rights in advance - simply because the mob demands we surrender to totalitarianism.

You can advocate incremental surrender to despotism because it is going to be inevitable all you like.

Most of us are going to refuse to take part in our own enslavement to tyranny by disarming ourselves and handing government even more power to intrude upon and police our lives.

But like I suggested on the other thread - you push for this - precedent being set - the First Amendment will be the next target to be advocated be surrendered to get rid of the scourge of hate speech and hate-beliefs which is where gun violence originates.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

Many western European countries have strict laws about citizens owning firearms. The citizenry is for the most part effectively defenseless against a tyrannical government.
Of course, the liberal citizens of the countries say it can't happen in their countries...they're democracies.  They say that as they allow numerous people from countries with no history of democracy and no interest in assimilating into their new countries.
In fifty years a number of western European countries will be majority Muslim.  What will the non-Muslim citizens do when the Muslim majority demands sharia for the country? They'll meekly submit that's what. They'll be dhimmis for the rest of their miserable lives.

Being 19 wasn't the cause of this guy's problems and his willingness to kill innocent people.  He wasn't going to become magically safe when he turned 21.

If anything, he'd have 3 more years to be a loser, get fired multiple times, stew about it, and do something then.

Yeah... that.

Or border security.

Or spending.

Or taxation.

No kidding.  I lived in Ohio at the time.  Obama won the state twice.  However, when the insurance mandate was put to a state ballot, it was voted down by 66% of the electorate.  It still got enforced, anyway.

....Why did the DOD not flag Kelly, the Texas Church shooter as being not eligible to own a firearm?...

Just on this point, the DOD has since increased the number of flags from 7000 to 11000 (per my husband -- I'll ask him where the numbers come from).  It looks like the military doesn't (didn't?) take these warnings seriously enough.

Background checks, ten day waiting periods, gun free school zones.

A guy threatens to shoot up a school and the FBI is warned.

Still he manages to kill 17 kids.

The definition of insanity is repeating the same action over and over expecting different results each time.

Laws won't fix this problem.

In FL there is no waiting period to buy a rifle/AR15.  Only a handgun. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong -- this seems really stupid.

How is a teenager allowed to purchase a gun??

A teenager in FL can't buy a handgun.  Only a rifle/AR15.   Which is ridiculous to me.

Because the military can hand you a machine gun at 18. 18 year olds are adults. But you have to be 21 to buy a pistol.

If this guy was being treated for a severe mental illness, it should have been illegal for him to have a gun.

President Trump signed a repeal of an Obama era check on mentally ill individuals owning guns.  It had just gone into effect in December 2017 (sorry, 2016).

What does this babble have to do with limiting gun purchases for teenagers?

I largely agree with you.  But I can understand buying a shotgun or rifle for hunting at 18.  An AR15 seems like overkill, no pun intended.

That's bullshit.  This is a question and has been a question on the background check form for as long as I've been old enough to buy a handgun.

I agree.  An 18 year old should be able to buy a handgun also if they want to and are otherwise legally able to.

The rule never actually went into effect.. and it wouldn't have affected Cruz's ability to buy an AR.  And I hope Trump eliminates or rescinds ALL of the Obama regulations and rules.

Do you have any idea why they created the different rules?

Does a background check access that info, in case the purchaser lies?  If a crazy person is buying a gun, I'm not sure why s/he'd tell the truth on the form.

I want to know what the hell this school's Principal, teachers were doing?.  Did any one of them notify any authority about the email blast warning teachers about this ex-student?  Was it even discussed?

They clearly didn't increase security.
