Trump puts Harrisburg in national spotlight on his 100th dayPennLive, Apr 29, 2017, Candy Woodall
President Donald Trump will be in Harrisburg today - the latest of several local visits since his campaign began in June 2015.
His first stop in the region was on April 21, 2016 at the Farm Show Complex & Expo Center in Harrisburg, where he drew a crowd of thousands and thunderous applause as he promised to "build the wall."
A week later he had an unprecedented victory, winning each of Pennsylvania's 67 counties in the Republican primary.
He put Pennsylvania, a reliably blue state, in play for the first time in decades and he worked for his votes. Trump campaigned throughout the commonwealth with multiple stops in southcentral Pennsylvania: Cumberland Valley High School, Spooky Nook Sports Complex in Lancaster, two rallies in Hershey, a stop in Gettysburg to announce his 100-day plan and more.
Those visits paid off, including one in Hershey five days before the General Election when Trump won Pennsylvania by 44,000 votes. He was the first Republican to win the state since George H.W. Bush in 1988.
Now, on his 100th day in office, he's returning to the region. Trump will again visit the Farm Show, where he will hold a rally at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Doors open at 4:30 p.m.
The campaign will pay nearly $19,000 to use the Farm Show Complex. Additional costs will be tallied for security.
Trump will be joined in Harrisburg by Vice President Mike Pence and up to 11,000 people who fit in the New Holland Arena.
