You may have noticed I'm not reporting on the US strikes in Iran at all tonight.

This is because so far, they are worthless small bombings that will achieve nothing, while the IRGC laughs and high fives each other.

I have written many times how to actually make the islamic regime suffer, and that's not what's happening now.

So really, who cares.

Sure, this ⬆️ is part of the growing opposition to this new war.

But, so, too, are:   the length (entering its sixth month), mission creep without a goal, expense creep without a budget, dignified transfers of flag draped coffins, and midterms demanding a focused, united fight against the socialists/communists busting through our guardrails and into our government.

All happening while voters wait for a satisfactory answer to the compelling question about this new war:  "Why now?"
Now, because after Iran gets nuclear weapons will be too late.
Imagine NYC or Washington looking like Hiroshima--the 'after' picture.
Now, because a wounded Iran has dreams of controlling a significant amount of the world's oil supply by limiting access to an international waterway.

Longer than a week (really?) because it takes what it takes.

The mission is clear: No nukes for Iran.
The Straits of Hormuz open with vessels unmolested.
Preferably a regime change in Iran to a more secular government.
An end to Iranian sponsored proxy terrorist groups in the Middle East (and elsewhere).

Picture a State terrorist Sponsor who has given aid, materiel, training, and likely personnel to Hizb'allah, Hamas, and the Houthis, who have killed far over twenty times the number of American service personnel (Beirut alone accounted for 241 US deaths)who have been killed in this engagement, some of whom died in accidents, not from hostile action.

The Americans who have died over the past 47 years didn't die to prevent a nuclear war, but just because they were on someone's jihad target list.

The only war we have fought that was shorter was the Spanish American War, and we're barely two months past that.

We need to finish finishing what we have started to finish. Remember, Iran started all this, nearly a half century ago. At some point something needed to be done. This is that point.

He's not wrong.  Trump's now trying to have his cake and eat it too.  These tactical strikes have now reached the low point of diminishing returns.  Trump has to go with big strategic "LeMay"-style attacks on the Iranian infrastructure now or pack it in.

U.S. Central Command said it carried out a “heavy wave of strikes against Iran” in response to an attempted attack on American troops stationed in the Middle East.

The military action, which was completed at 10 p.m. ET Thursday, came after Iran had launched a surprise missile attack on U.S. forces in Jordan.

“CENTCOM assets struck dozens of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets in Iran, including military command centers, missile and drone facilities, coastal surveillance and defense sites, and maritime capabilities,” CENTCOM said. “The strikes aimed to further diminish threats posed by Iran and its proxies to American forces, commercial shipping, and neighboring Gulf countries.”

CENTCOM added that in the July 28 incident, “IRGC forces launched multiple ballistic missiles from Iran in an attempted surprise attack on U.S. forces based in the Middle East,” but that “All Iranian missiles were successfully intercepted.”

“More than 50,000 U.S. service members are currently deployed to the Middle East and remain highly vigilant, focused, lethal, and ready,” it also said.

Yesterday's Fox News Digital live blog offers additional coverage of the conflict with Iran.

Netanyahu confronts Vance over his criticism of Israeli government

https://www.axios.com/2026/07/30/netanyahu-confronts-vance-over-his-criticism-of-israeli-government

Quote
Vice President Vance and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a "direct" conversation about their differences in a one-on-one meeting in Washington on Tuesday evening, Israeli and U.S. officials said.

Why it matters: Vance has been the most Netanyahu-skeptical voice in Trump's inner circle since the beginning of the war. As the war dragged on, he became increasingly critical of the Israeli prime minister.

Vance took on a larger role in war policy and Iran negotiations as the conflict progressed. That culminated in the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding, which Vance took a lead role in defending. Netanyahu opposed the agreement but didn't come out against it publicly, hoping it would collapse on its own. It did several weeks later.

Tensions between the two have been simmering behind the scenes. Netanyahu was unhappy about Vance's public criticism of him — the vice president accused the Israeli leader of stoking opposition to the MOU and of being insufficiently loyal to President Trump. Netanyahu was also privately critical of Vance's role in the war.

Vance, meanwhile, believed Netanyahu was deploying his associates and allies in the pro-Netanyahu media in Israel and the U.S. to attack him and undermine him politically.

The meeting at Blair House on Tuesday was a chance for the two men to try to clear the air.

Inside the room: A senior Israeli official said Netanyahu spoke to Vance about his recent criticism of the Israeli government and Israel's standing among Republicans.

"It was a frank and candid conversation," the Israeli official said.

A U.S. official confirmed that characterization: "The conversation was direct."

The vice president's office declined to comment, but a second U.S. official said Vance and Netanyahu had a "cordial and productive conversation about Middle East issues that are important to both countries."

"The Vice President and the Prime Minister agreed to continue pursuing opportunities for Israel and the United States to cooperate in areas of mutual interest and shared goals," that person said, adding that the meeting was not confrontational and that Vance and Netanyahu have a productive working relationship.

EXCERPT

I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall listening to that conversation.

US has used up two-thirds of its critical Patriot missile interceptors since Iran War started: report
By Ronny Reyes
Published July 29, 2026, 4:21 p.m. ET

The US has used up two-thirds of its critical Patriot missile interceptors since the Iran War started — and the current tit-for-tat drone and missile strikes across the region are further depleting them, according to a grim new report.

Prior to the war, the US had more than 2,700 missiles for the Patriot and anti-ballistic THAAD systems on hand.

As of Monday the supply has plummeted to fewer than 1,000, according to the Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies think tank.

The US has enough arsenal to handle the war, but an expanded and long-term conflict will strain its defense systems, analysts have warned.

That includes just 827 Patriot missiles — used in the famous American-designed Patriot missile batteries that have become the primary defense against Iranian drones and miles fired across the Middle East.

While America’s interception rate has been nearly perfect, several Iranian attacks have started to break through, with the CSIS warning that further diminishing defense stockpiles may put US soldiers and military bases at greater risk.

Now, because after Iran gets nuclear weapons will be too late.

I do think people understand this.  We also were told the massive, targeted bombing in June 2025 "obliterated" Iran's nuclear capabilities, and believed it. If we missed a spot in June 2025, or a new spot has emerged, repeat the swift, targeted big-ass bombing.

But, nothing should have stopped us from waving goodbye to military action in the region fourteen months ago --- and returning to the Gaza peace plan.

The 47 years AI Overview ⬇️

Major Direct and Proxy Confrontations

° The Iran Hostage Crisis (1979–1981): Militant students backed by the regime seized the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, holding 52 Americans for 444 days.

° 1980s Beirut Bombings: Iran-backed groups carried out the 1983 U.S. Embassy bombing and the Marine barracks bombing, which killed over 260 Americans.

**A 20 year break**

° Iraq War Insurgency (2003–2011): Declassified Pentagon data attributes hundreds of U.S. military deaths in Iraq to lethal Iranian-supplied explosively formed penetrators (EFPs) used by Shia militias.

**A 12 year break.**

°. Regional Proxy & Base Attacks (2023–2024): Iranian-aligned militias launched over 180 separate drone and rocket attacks targeting U.S. forces stationed in Iraq, Syria, and Jordan following the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war.

° Direct Escalations (2020 & 2026): Iran launched retaliatory ballistic missile strikes directly at U.S. forces at Ain al-Asad airbase in Iraq in January 2020, followed by broader exchanges and direct regional conflicts into 2026.

FNC’s Keane: U.S. Should Resume Major Combat Operations in Iran with Israel

On Wednesday’s broadcast of the Fox Business Network’s “Kudlow,” Fox News Senior Strategic Analyst Gen. Jack Keane (Ret.) said that the U.S. should go back to “major combat operations with the Israelis” in Iran. Keane said, “[W]e need to go back to “major combat operations with the Israelis” in Iran.

Keane said, “[W]e need to go back to what you said, major combat operations with the Israelis, with a comprehensive target list, where we put maximum pressure on everything at the same time. This is what absolutely puts a regime towards a collapse. What am I talking about? We start, certainly, an all-out attack on ballistic missiles, drones, IRGC organizations and leaders, we take down everything to do with energy in terms of economic value to them, oil and gas, we destroy it, take it away from them. That alone, added to the blockade, will force a collapse dealing with their system.”

He continued, “The other thing we can do with them is isolate Iran from its neighbors, because they’re trading with them. Shut down the rails, shut down the roads in and out of these neighboring countries, shut down the airports, as well as the seaports. Isolate Iran, it’s a sense of a quarantine on top of them. And then open up the [Strait] of Hormuz. We know they’re not going to open it. We have to forcibly open it, we’ve already done a lot of work in that end. And then, Larry, I totally agree with you, we need to conduct a combined CIA and Mossad operation to, one, undermine the regime and all of the subobjectives to do that, and number two, provide assistance to the Iranian people so they can resist.”

Israeli U.N. Amb.: ‘We Will Be Ready’ if U.S. Asks Us to Join Iran Strikes

During an interview aired on Wednesday’s broadcast of NewsNation’s “Elizabeth Vargas Reports,” Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon said that if the United States asks Israel to join in attacking Iran, “we will be ready.” And “If Iran will attack us, we will retaliate immediately, and it will be painful.”

Guest host Hena Doba asked, “Ambassador, let’s start with Iran’s surprise attack yesterday on U.S. forces in Jordan. It occurred during Prime Minister Netanyahu’s first visit since the start of the war. An obviously furious President Trump made clear today that Iran is going to get a beating. Does Israel want to be involved in the next phase of attacks, whatever they may be?”

Danon answered, “First of all, Hena, it’s not the first attack. Iran has been attacking…countries in the last few weeks. They continue with hostility, they continue not to comply with the MOU. We respect the judgment of President Trump to lead the way he wants to respond. And our policy is very clear, if the U.S. will ask us, we will be ready. If Iran will attack us, we will retaliate immediately, and it will be painful. It will be very painful for the regime if they will attack Israel again.”

Keane never fails to prove Trump right: (I wish Trump would remember... )

Quote
AI Overview:

October 2019, Donald Trump called U.S. involvement in the Middle East the Al Arabiya “worst decision ever made in the history of our country”. He criticized past wars as costly and misguided, defending his withdrawal of troops from Syria.

Statements on Past Involvement

°. The 2003 Iraq War: Stated it was launched under a "false & now disproven premise" regarding weapons of mass destruction.

°. Financial Cost: Claimed the U.S. spent roughly $8 trillion on fighting in the region."Endless Wars":

°  Described ongoing regional conflicts as "stupid endless wars" that the U.S. should never have joined.

Focusing on the Big Picture: Argued that centuries-old local fighting meant the U.S. did not belong there and should exit regional conflicts.

Quote
Trump: US going into Middle East was 'worst decision ever'
France24, Sep 10, 2019

US President Donald Trump said Wednesday the US military becoming involved in the Middle East was the "worst decision ever made" and that he was ensuring the safe return of troops.

Trump has faced a bipartisan storm of criticism since a surprise announcement by the White House on Sunday that Washington was pulling back 50 to 100 "special operators" from Syria's northern frontier.

"GOING INTO THE MIDDLE EAST IS THE WORST DECISION EVER MADE IN THE HISTORY OF OUR COUNTRY! We went to war under a false & now disproven premise, WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. There were NONE!" the president tweeted in reference to the 2003 US invasion of Iraq.

The United States is estimated to have between 60,000 and 80,000 troops across the area covered by US Central Command, which includes Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria.

Trump bemoaned what he called the "eight trillion-dollar" bill for "fighting and policing" in the Middle East, and the thousands of US soldiers who had been killed or wounded in battle.

"Now we are slowly & carefully bringing our great soldiers & military home. Our focus is on the BIG PICTURE! THE USA IS GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE!" Trump said.

What's our national security interest in the Middle East?  Preventing Saddam Hussein from getting nukes?  Preventing Iran from getting nukes?

Israel, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, the Persian Gulf states, India, China, Asia, and Europe have more to lose from a nuclear Iran than the US does.

What's our national economic interest in the Middle East?

We don't need their oil.  Their money comes with an OPEC and Islamist stink on it.  They did buy golf, but might not be able to afford keeping it.  Yeah, they buy weapons from us, but our sons and daughters die to defend them, while their children attend Ivy League Universities in America.

The Roman Empire couldn't conquer the Middle East.  The Ottoman Empire couldn't hold on to it.  It bankrupted the British and French Empires after WWI and WWII.  It put TWA and PanAm airlines out of business.

How much more American blood and treasury must we sacrifice for a region filled with people who want to blow up America and kill Americans?

That's it in a nutshell.  MAD is not effective if the enemy is suicidal. I've had leftist friends ask me, "What's wrong with letting the Iranians have nuclear weapons?  We do!  Are better than them?"

"Yes, we are.  We don't have 'ending the world' as a National Goal.  They do."

They are crazy enough to use them the instant they get their hands on them.  This hasn't changed!

Worse than suicidal. They seek martyrdom, the highest calling in their "religion". They are religious fanatics of the worst sort.

We have forgotten just how dangerous religious fanatics are. We cannot 'see' them. Out minds translate them into just another enemy, the kind we've dealt with for centuries. But they are not them.

We know of religious fanatics through history - the Spanish priests who destroyed all that was indigenous in the Americas in the name of the Christian religion ... the Spanish soldiers who slaughtered their way to piles of gold, silver and jewels.

But, we have never encountered any religious fanatics that wanted to kill every living human in order to bring everyone to their Paradise by using nuclear weapons to achieve that goal.

That's why negotiations will never stop them, never change them, only delay them for short times - the method remains, the goal remains, unless the fanatics are all killed to the man, woman, and child.

Let the streets of Iran run ankle deep in their fanatical blood. Its them or us. No third choice is possible.

If it takes the lives of thousands of American troops to achieve the fanatics' deaths, then that's the price we must pay in order to survive.

It is inarguable that the war in Iran is a massive drag on Trump’s numbers, as well as those of the Republican party heading into November. This is largely driven by consistently high gas prices, which also drive up the price of everything else.

Trump obviously knows this, which is why he’s been searching for an off ramp for months. He knows he was elected to get gas prices down and the economy in shape (which he did until the war jammed up the gears).

But a major problem for Trump’s presidency right now is that nearly everyone outside his inner pushing for this war—and this includes the entirety of so-called conservative pundits who never found a war they weren’t willing to make others fight and pay for—also hates Trump (and especially Vance) and sees the war’s negative effect on his popularity as a secondary benefit of the war they’ve been salivating over for decades. To them, his declining numbers are a feature, not a bug.

With the Iran war, the NeverTrump neocons have gotten everything they ever dreamed of—war (which they love), and a massive political quagmire for Trump which threatens to consume the rest of his presidency and destroy any future political chances of J.D. Vance and the entire MAGA/America First movement.

These people, and this includes most GOP senators, believe that Trump/MAGA is just a fever that will eventually break, and all they have to do is wait it out and then take over what’s left of the party after that. They don’t care if Republicans lose in the mid-terms in November. In fact, they’d welcome it. They would much rather rule over the wreckage than continue having to take a back seat to Trump or his successor.

This is why they refuse to pass the SAVE America Act. It’s why they’ve been blocking recess appointments and slow-walking the entire nominations process since the very first day of this presidency.

Washington Republicans very much prefer the minority, where they get all the perks of power but none of the obligations or accountability. They can go on their taxpayer-funded junkets and slip provisions into Democrat-written bills for their benefit of their K Street lobbyist donors without having to actually pass anything their voters demand. When you’re in the minority, you don’t have to spend all your time lying to your own voters about why you can’t do anything despite controlling the Congress, the White House, and the Supreme Court.

If November goes poorly, they’ll then leave Trump to fend for himself as a new Democrat Congress launches its latest series of hoaxes and investigations and impeachment circuses designed to make sure Trumpism as a movement in 2028 has no gas left in the tank. It will be the Russia hoax and the Ukraine impeachment hoax and the J6 hoax all over again.

The neocon war pimps and the RINO establishment would much rather Republicans lose in 2026 and 2028, allowing the establishment to rebuild the party in its own image heading into 2032, than watch the Trump/MAGA agenda succeed and lead to a third or maybe even a fourth term following victory in the presidential election in 2028.

This is the reality of the current political situation. The Iran war is a mess, it’s being pimped by people who are than happy to watch it destroy Trump’s presidency, and they are being completely dishonest about their own motivations as well as the political impact of the war going forward.

Tehran used Egypt port strike to signal threat to global energy supply: report

Wednesday's strike on a U.S.-owned gas tanker at Egypt's Damietta Port was intended as a warning that Tehran could inflict far more disruption on global shipping and energy supplies if the conflict escalated, according to reports.

Citing officials, The New York Times reported that the attack was intended to show Iran's ability to threaten critical energy infrastructure.

Ynet also reported that Iranian state television had identified Damietta Port as a potential retaliation target days before the attack and had shown a map highlighting sites also tied to Ukrainian interests.

Iran has not officially claimed responsibility for the attack, which sparked fires aboard two gas-storage tankers.

Maritime security firm Ambrey identified one of the vessels as the U.S.-owned Energos Winter.

Reuters reported that Egypt's Cabinet confirmed Thursday that "preliminary investigations by the relevant authorities found that the incident was caused by a drone." ........

He's still not wrong.

We fought a revolution so we can let Englanders be not wrong on their own dime.

SHE's not wrong.  Nioh Berg is an Iranian Jew currently living in the UK.  She is very critical of the current UK government and would promptly move back to Iran if the Shah is reinstated.

What's our national security interest in the Middle East?  Preventing Saddam Hussein from getting nukes?  Preventing Iran from getting nukes?

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
