Crockett Assails Murder Verdict
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) weighed in on the murder conviction of Karmelo Anthony for stabbing Austin Metcalf to death at a high school track meet in April 2025, calling it "just another episode in the 400-year history of racial injustice in this country. Whites have enslaved Blacks since the 1600s. They chained us, whipped us, and lynched us. Now, one teen-aged boy trying to defend himself is being sent to prison for decades. It's just not fair."
"I try to envision what I would do if I were in Karmelo's place," the Congresswoman speculated. "If some 300 lb football player starts beating on me I'd try to even the odds by using a weapon just like Karmelo did when he pulled out his Swiss Army knife. It was so tiny that he couldn't possibly have considered it a deadly weapon. Yet, he's convicted of premeditated murder. It's just not right."
Collin County District Attorney Bill Wirskye pointed out that "Mr. Anthony was trespassing and refused to leave when asked. Instead, he taunted his victim, saying 'touch me and see what happens.' When Metcalf reached to try to turn Anthony toward the exit Anthony stabbed him in the chest with a knife he had brought with him. That knife had a five inch blade. This knife thrust penetrated Metcalf's heart and he bled to death. Both Metcalf and Anthony were football players. Metcalf was 6 feet tall and 200 lbs, Anthony is 5 feet and 11 inches tall and 162 lbs. This was not an instance of justified self-defense. It was a planned ambush. The jury's verdict was appropriate."
Crockett complained that "the DA completely overlooked the 400 years of mistreatment we Blacks have endured from whites. Many Blacks have died at the hands of whites who suffered no consequences for their crimes. There were no Blacks on the jury to consider this history and attempt to balance the scales of justice. In addition, Austin Metcalf's father said he forgives Karmelo. Why was this fact withheld from the jury? Under Sharia law if the victim's family forgives the perpetrator all the charges are dropped. Why can't our system be as humane?"
Newsom Warns DOJ
The US Department of Justice (DOJ) efforts to audit the recent balloting in Los Angeles and California prompted Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) to warn "all of the actions employed in counting the ballots of the recent elections for Mayor of Los Angeles and Governor of California are authorized by law. Things that the DOJ regards as 'suspicious' like the extraordinary differences between the ratios of ballots for various candidates counted early versus those counted later is perfectly normal for California."
"Further, I just signed a law--Senate Bill 73--that makes questioning the declared outcome of an election a crime punishable by three years in prison," Newsom boasted. "This law pertains to anyone who asks questions or implies that any part of the process is improper or corrupt. Democracy cannot survive in an environment of doubt and suspicion. Anyone who would venture to stir up doubt or suspicion is an enemy of democracy and will be punished to the full extent of the law. This includes acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and any other member of the DOJ who enters California with the intent to audit or investigate any election held in my state."
Blanche dismissed Newsom's threats and pointed out that "the US Constitution and the federal laws enacted are the supreme law of the land. No state law that conflicts with federal law can stand. The Constitution also obligates the federal government to ensure that every state has a republican form of government. Ensuring clean elections is essential to fulfilling this obligation. Newsom and the Democrat-dominated state legislature do not have the authority to block a federal audit or investigation into any election held in California."
In related news, Mayor Karen Bass and City councilwoman Nithya Raman have jointly requested that Spencer Pratt be arrested for making a "terroristic threat" against them. Bass explained "rather than take his defeat like a man, Mr. Pratt is now saying he has evidence that one of us has committed a crime and that he will publicly reveal this evidence prior to the November election. We think his threat falls within the scope of the recently enacted Senate Bill 73. We are requesting that Pratt be arrested and compelled to turn this so-called evidence over to the Los Angeles Police Department so he can be prevented from interfering with the upcoming November ballot counting."
Fetterman Wager Offer Called "Unfair"
While most Democrats are okay with Graham Platner as Maine's next US Senator, potential colleague Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa) has his doubts. This past weekend he expressed his doubts on Fox News' "Saturday in America" show, offering to "ditch my hoody and shorts and wear a suit everyday in the Senate if Platner can prove he didn't send photos of his penis to underage females."
Platner called Fetterman's proposed bet "fundamentally unfair. There are millions of females that have seen photos of my penis. How am I supposed to know how old each one of them is? I think the burden of proof is on Fetterman to find out if any of them are under 18 years of age."
Platner went on to assert that "Fetterman is the one who should be embarrassed. I am following the Party line on key issues like democracy, LGBTQ rights, abortion, immigration, and taxing the rich. Fetterman is the deviant one. He thinks some of the stuff Trump does is okay. He sides with Trump on the Iran War. He votes to approve Trump's nominees for various federal posts. Every other Democrat is against Trump's nominees and the war. I won my primary with 72% of the votes. Fetterman won his 2022 primary with 59% of the votes, but that was before he outed himself as a Trump-loving fascist. I doubt he'll be the Democratic Party's nominee for the Pennsylvania US Senate seat he currently holds after the 2028 primary."
Ohio Voters Want Voter ID
The Honest Elections Project Action released poll results indicating that 86% of Ohio's voters think voter IDs should be required to cast a ballot at the polls. The breakdown by Party showed that 99% of Republicans, 90% of Independents and 69% of Democrats favor this requirement. The Ohio State Senate voted 22-9 to send a constitutional amendment ballot question to voters. If the state House also approves, this amendment will appear on the November ballot. Over seventy percent of poll respondents say they will vote for this amendment.
The two leading candidates for the Ohio US Senate seat disagree on whether this amendment is needed. Incumbent Sen. Jon Husted (R) favors the measure, "election integrity is essential for a democratic republic. If we permit persons not eligible to vote cast ballots we won't have an accurate accounting of who the legitimate electorate wants to represent them in governing the nation."
Former Senator Sherrod Brown (D) questioned the need for requiring voter ID, saying "voting is a human right. No one should be denied this right merely because he or she hasn't got an official ID. Republican demands that voting should be restricted to citizens with appropriate papers sounds like fascism to me. If folks make the effort to show up at the polls or mail in a ballot we should just count it. More people will vote. We'll have a bigger sample of what the people want from their government."
In related news, Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Ak), was one of four Republican senators--the others were Susan Collins (Me), Mitch McConnell (Ky), and Thom Tills (NC)--to join with all 47 Democrats to vote down the federal SAVE Act 51-49. The SAVE Act would require proof of citizenship for a voter to be allowed to cast a ballot. Murkowski explained her position, saying "the SAVE Act would make voting too complicated. It's not like we are handing out large sums of money for which we need extensive identification verification procedures. Each ballot represents one of millions cast for a particular candidate. The chances that an ineligible vote will decide the outcome of any given election are infinitesimally small. I say, let's just count all the ballots and be done with it."
UK Defense Secretary John Healey Resigns
This week the United Kingdom's Labor Party's Defense Secretary John Healy resigned, saying "Prime Minister Starmer refuses to ask for enough money to fund the kind of military we need to defend our country in this time of rising threats."
Starmer disagreed and pointed out "we are engaged in a transition to what I feel is a necessary pivot from our long-term reliance on the United States to provide our defense. During the 20th century the US came to our aid in two world wars. Then for seven decades defended us from Russian aggression. This enabled us to spend more on social services. President Trump has been demanding that we pay our fair share of the cost of defending our country. Now he has led the US into a war of aggression against Iran. Continuing as we have in the past is no longer an option."
"Muslims now account for a quarter of the Earth's population," Starmer observed, "and their rate of reproduction exceeds anything we or the other European countries can hope to match. Within the next two decades the United Kingdom will be a Muslim majority nation. Rather than foolishly try to avoid the inevitable, it is my plan to persuade the indigenous people of the UK to convert to Islam. It is a simpler system to understand and implement. All Muslims will be our friends. Everyone else will be our enemies. We will be freed from admonitions to turn the other cheek and free to wantonly attack anyone who refuses to convert to our new religion. Those who have been paying attention will note that I have urged a more accepting stance toward resident Muslims who feel compelled to exert their will on those who do not share their faith."
"The rest of Europe is in a similar predicament," the PM insisted. "All are being inundated by Muslim invaders. Europe was able to fend them off at the Battle of Tours in 732 and the Battle of Vienna in 1683, but that was when we had the courage to risk life and limb for our beliefs. We no longer believe in anything worth fighting for. Rather than mindlessly drift into being massacred I think it better to strategically yield to the stronger faith. Heeding the daily calls to prayer, keeping our women covered and submissive, obeying the mullahs set over us are tolerable prices to pay for the safety that will come from being on the winning side."
In related news, a recent poll conducted by by the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) revealed that only one in ten Europeans see the US as an ally. Starmer cited this fact as "further proof that the kind of pivot I'm trying to pull off is the most sensible option available to all of us."
Whistleblowers Silenced by Gov Walz
Citing a report--titled "The Cost of Doing Nothing: How Tim Walz and Keith Ellison Fueled Minnesota's Fraud Explosion"--prepared by the House Oversight Committee, Vice President JD Vance has asked the Department of Justice (DOJ) "to investigate Gov. Tim Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison and other high officials. According to the testimony of over 30 whistleblowers, their efforts to inform the Governor of the extensive corruption in state-administered grants to firms supposedly providing benefits to needy clients were repeatedly ignored or rebuffed, and those trying to expose the fraud were intimidated."
In the Committee hearings Walz testified "I never personally observed any misuse of these funds. Many of the contracts were let to members of our large immigrant community. I knew many of these people. They generously donated to my campaign for governor. I could not believe that their businesses were fake. I was afraid that false claims of fraud could defame these seemingly hardworking people. Naturally, I discounted the continuing rumors of corruption."
A Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) employee asserted "we weren't relaying rumors. We couldn't verify that actual clients were receiving benefits. Children who were supposedly attending daycare centers were never present on occasions when we visited the sites. Many of the sites were simply empty rooms with no facilities to accommodate lessons or play activities. Yet, funds were continuously paid out to the so-called operators. When I contacted the FBI told federal investigators I was reprimanded by people from the Governors office and told to stop what I was doing."
House Oversight Committee chairman James Comer (R-Ky) estimated that "about $9 billion in federal funds went missing during Walz's tenure as governor. This is a lot of money. Based on all the testimony I heard, little, if any, of it, was of benefit to the intended recipients."
