If that's true then why is has he been hawking "Trump watches" on TV? Why did he come out publicly praising Dell when he holds a lot of Dell shares? Every time he opens his yap the market goes up or down with all these "pointless" negotiations.
Well, anyone can sell Trump watches or whatever. T-shirts, ball caps, I don't care. I don't watch the TV you do, apparently, because I missed those ads. Buy what you like, in the stock market and even promote it, who doesn't?
So he trades stocks. What billionaire doesn't?
Hell, I do, but I'm happy with my current positions in precious metals producers and rare earths. No, I don't trade oil stocks, to avoid accusations of conflict. But I'm not the POTUS and have a well defined lane. In his case, no matter what he does, it can affect any and every market sector. It's all above board, and the forms are filed.
His name is his brand, and some of the things he tacks it onto have been successful, some not. As for the watches (official merch) they did not seem cheap to me (Between 500 and 900 for the official and numbered 250th anniversary watches, depending on type)--I wear a $19.98 digital watch that tells time and a few other things. It's all I need. Maybe someone else wants to spend more, and it's their money.
He's just
ahem capitalizing on his brand, and in a unique position to do so. It isn't as if he is importing tens of millions of third worlders and skimming everything he can get his hands on from the public coffers.
I didn't notice any defense industry stocks in there.
Maybe Obama or Biden could have done the same, but their supporters don't need to know what time it is, if they could read the watch anyway.
Oh well, back to the war.
