Trump announced he was going to take Kharg Island because he knew he was never going to actually do it.
I was a fool to take Trump's bullshit seriously.

The Iranian Mullahs and the IRGC are popping champagne tonight.

It will be interesting to see how Trump tries to sell this as a victory and an 'unconditional surrender' by Iran.

Countdown begins. A few years from now, we will have to do all of this all over again. And Iran will be better prepared and more ready next time.

A few years from now, we will be in fallout shelters awaiting the next Iranian nuclear strike.

Well I admire your honesty.  But I have a different take, and I am hardly MAGA. 

I think this is one of those "eggs in one basket" phenomenon.  Our government has been screwing us for so long that anyone, I mean anyone who wants to dismantle this system in earnest has the hearts and minds of the populous. 
 
Things haven't gone perfect for Trump and his agenda, but how soon we forget how bad Biden was.  We are 100X better off than at the end of '24.  Funny how perspectives are lost in short order.

I have said for weeks that Trump has a kryptonite. I have said many times that Iran has the powerful ability to STOP! HALT! any military action by Trump simply by saying the magic words, 'I am ready to make a deal'. As soon as Trump hears these words he goes into a kind of paralysis. He stops everything 'real' and focuses solely and entirely on 'making a deal'. Iran knows this and uses this trick skillfully. And here they have done it yet again.

Trump stopped all military action and he doesn't even have his Holy Grail "deal" yet, just like the Iranians knew he would. Now that he has stopped bombing, which was Iran's immediate goal, Iran will go back to stalling and delaying and stalling with delays which is what they always do. Iran knows that Trump's "deal" is the most important thing in the world to him. And they are using it to manipulate him.

It is incredibly stunning to me that Trump cannot see that Iran is just toying with him. Iran has the red laser pointer "deal" and Trump is the cat.

If you always assume that what Trump writes on Truth Social will be the exact opposite of what he actually does, you will be right the vast majority of the time, and retain your sanity.

Truth Social has two marketing objectives: (1) feed red meat to the cultists; and (2) trigger more TDS in the enemy. Trump's TS posts have no bearing on actual policy as far as I have ever been able to tell.

And now that everyone at TS is celebrating this great new deal, when just hours ago they were lauding Trump for finally taking off the handcuffs, I rest my case.

A proposal to seize Iran's strategically important Kharg Island would be abandoned if Tehran signs a pending agreement with the U.S., according to comments made by President Donald Trump Thursday in the Oval Office.

Less than a day after emerging as one of the most aggressive ideas floated during the conflict, the plan now appears unlikely to move forward as negotiations advance toward a potential deal.

"It would be. If we sign this agreement," Trump said when asked whether the Kharg Island plan was now off the table.

Earlier Thursday, Trump described taking the island as a preferred outcome and argued the U.S. could assume control of Iranian oil and gas markets through such a move.

Kharg Island serves as Iran's primary oil export terminal and has become a central focus of the administration's pressure campaign against Tehran.

BREAKING: Iran's Foreign Ministry directly rejects Trump's new claim that "everyone in Iran has approved the deal," including the Supreme Leader, saying no one has accepted it, and "no agreement has been reached," per Fars.

Any agreement requires the US to "accept every demand" from Iran, including that it won't surrender enriched uranium or make nuclear concessions, that the Strait of Hormuz remains permanently under Iranian management, and the transfer of $24 billion in frozen funds. Iran adds "if it were to yield under pressure, it would have done so a year ago" rather than after sustained US bombing.

The spokesperson also denied Trump's claim that the Strait of Hormuz would reopen on a deal signing, saying it "remains closed" under Iranian authority and "safe passage is not possible."

Iran will not sign the 'deal' not because they give a single damn about what is in it, since they have no intention of adhering to it.
They will not sign it so they can continue to use it to stop Trump from any military actions.
Iran wants the 'deal' outstanding so they can continue to control Trump with it.

The only single thing Iran wants from Trump's deal is all the billions of dollars being paid up-front. After they get the money, they will toss the rest of it in the trash.

Difference in the term fan "fanatic" (fan)  and cultist are separated by the modifier of "extreme".  I'd put 99.9% of MAGA as patriotic red cap wearing folks who are vocal of their ideological bent and fearfull of additional dimocratic rule.  I am sure that .01% has some whackos, but painting the entire movement as cultist, is just plain wrong,.

Can someone name a common "extreme" trait of a so called "MAGA Cultist"?  I'm having problem coming up with one.

Pakistan says a breakthrough is imminent.

Qatar says it is honored to have played a constructive role in facilitating the talks. Qatar did not facilitate the talks.

Israel says it learned about the deal from Truth Social.

Hezbollah in southern Lebanon is still getting bombed daily.

Axios reports a rift between Netanyahu and Trump. The White House denies it. Trump then posts a photo of himself and Netanyahu. Netanyahu is not in the photo.

Oil jumps 3%.

Then falls 4%.

Trump says the deal is being signed at the request of Pakistan and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, who Trump describes as “one of the great generals, maybe the greatest, people are saying.”

A senior official says we’re “closer than ever.”

A different senior official says “significant gaps remain.”

They work in the same office.

The next round of talks is scheduled for next weekend.

It will also be described as a breakthrough.
