Carrying out a war without congressional authorization. The 60-day window is already closed, and congress has put him on notice that they do not authorize the use of ground troops.

If Trump uses ground troops and succeeds, then every Republican in congress will claim to have supported him all along. If he fails, he will have nary a friend in the world.

The question is moot because this statement from Trump is likely more bluster in trying to get a negotiated settlement. I am still betting on TACO.

So why didn't Truman get impeached for Korea?  Or LBJ over Vietnam?

Of course not.  But comments do have consequences, and what I saw a side of his position that wasn't particularly flattering to his POV.  If calling someone a Nazi, Racist, or Facist is a 10 on the despicable insult rating, then I'd guess a cultist would be an 8 or 9.  I think that level of vitriol ishould be reserved for our democratic enemies.......  not our fellow Briefers.

My thinking is the objective is to keep civilians away from his real intended targets.

Actually, I think Trump finally found the soft underbelly of vulnerability and it is Kharg Island.  Best option now, is for Trump to tell Iran that Space Force has a permanent bulls-eye on the Island, and any further mischief will result in its obliteration.

Trump wants an agreement to end this rather than crumpled landscapes in Iran because he wants the opportunities waiting even more --- expanded Abraham Accords, realigned ME commerce alliances, a rebuilt and reorganized Gaza (Lebanon will probably get some help, too).

If this war/threat ends with Iran physically destroyed, the Gulf States will peel away and the status quo will be standing when the smoke clears --- and, who wants that sh!t?

Trump announced he was going to take Kharg Island because he knew he was never going to actually do it.
I was a fool to take Trump's bullshit seriously.

The Iranian Mullahs and the IRGC are popping champagne tonight.

It will be interesting to see how Trump tries to sell this as a victory and an 'unconditional surrender' by Iran.

Countdown begins. A few years from now, we will have to do all of this all over again. And Iran will be better prepared and more ready next time.

47 waits until the market is up and the price of oil is lower; then, he attacks until the market goes down and the price of oil goes up. The rest is window dressing for the public and media speculation.

This is not how wars are won. This is how a politician keeps his head above water and can safely claim victory to the low information crowd.
