I don't take directions from other people as to what I say, or how I say it. And I don't tell other people what to say, either. I will happily try to clear up any misunderstandings if and when they occur.

If you always assume that what Trump writes on Truth Social will be the exact opposite of what he actually does, you will be right the vast majority of the time, and retain your sanity.

Truth Social has two marketing objectives: (1) feed red meat to the cultists; and (2) trigger more TDS in the enemy. Trump's TS posts have no bearing on actual policy as far as I have ever been able to tell.

You are probably right, but in Trump's mind maybe he thinks he is pressuring the Iranians into a settlement. He seems to think the mullahs are right on the brink of giving him the agreement he wants, and all he needs to do is nudge a little more.

We will just have to agree to disagree on that. In my observations over the years, politicians (particularly Republicans) will readily abandon their own when public opinion is lost.

Trump, in particular, has a propensity for losing friends. If he takes the actions of a king and carries out a war with ground troops and loses, he will fall on his sword or Brutus will be waiting for him in the senate. That is my prediction, which is meaningless since Trump probably has no intentions of putting boots on the ground in Iran.

Well I admire your honesty.  But I have a different take, and I am hardly MAGA. 

I think this is one of those "eggs in one basket" phenomenon.  Our government has been screwing us for so long that anyone, I mean anyone who wants to dismantle this system in earnest has the hearts and minds of the populous. 
 
Things haven't gone perfect for Trump and his agenda, but how soon we forget how bad Biden was.  We are 100X better off than at the end of '24.  Funny how perspectives are lost in short order.

The only reason I can imagine this has yet to be done is that Trump is afraid of the Chinese reaction. With control of Kharg Island and the Strait of Hormuz, Trump can simply sit and wait. Iran will revert to the stone age. There will be a very bloody civil war, which the mullahs may well win. But the country will have no tenable path to renewal, and a large percentage of the population (probably mostly the seculars) will be killed. The world press will, of course, blame the USA for that carnage.

And then there is the problem that if Trump attempts this and fails, he will be impeached and convicted.

I don't disagree with any of this. I consider Trump a mixed bag. I give him credit for deregulation and controlling immigration. Those are two big things. But his foreign policy and his economic policies have mostly been disastrous.

The biggest domestic problem this country has is the shrinking middle class. The shrinking middle class will be responsible for this country going full-tilt socialist over time (as opposed to socialist lite, which is what we have now). Being a retired professor, I have contact with a lot of former students who are trying to make a life for themselves. They are royally pissed off that they cannot buy houses or live the lifestyle their parents lived at their age. And they are starting to grasp at the phony straw of socialism.

The proximate cause of the shrinking middle class is bloated government. Trump started to address this early in his term, but then TACO'd. Now his deficits are bigger than ever, and increasing thanks in part to this war.

The neocons (Lindsay Graham et al) seem to have control. Where is the dismantling we were promised? I will believe the system is being dismantled when the deficit goes down. Instead, what I am seeing is Democrat patronage being systematically replaced by Trump patronage, which will be replaced by Democrat patronage once the Dems take control again.

Fundamentally, nothing is changing. As The Who sang "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss." Endless war and endless spending. 

And the MAGA base, being a cult, questions nothing.

What you don't understand is that there is pretty big difference in "A Cult of Personality". versus an outright Jim Jones koolaid guzzling cultist.  Politics in many ways is a lot like sports.  We all tend to identify with a team, an idelology, or a particular politican.  You and I both have easily seen 50+ years of our government being less of a protector, than more of an outright enemy who taxes us to death, and stays on an accelerated leftward vector course,

And after 50 years of oppression, we finally have a leader who is willing to risk his life to fixing this thing,    I don't like 100% of his actions.  But considering the alternative, and this pseudo-Lincoln Project invasion?  Internal wedges within the GOP need to fully abate, until December.  Because our left wing enemies are joyous of this potential fracture,.
