An Open Letter to @VP President J.D. VanceThis week you stood at the @WhiteHouse podium and told the world that @POTUS Trump is the only head of state left who is sympathetic to Israel — and that Israel cannot "kill its way out" of the dangers around her. You offered it as a rebuke. Receive it as one returned.
Be precise about the paper you were defending.
It reopens the Strait of Hormuz to the regime that closed it. It lifts the blockade on Iran's ports. It cracks the door to sanctions relief and billions in frozen assets flowing back to Tehran. It silences the guns on every front, including Lebanon, while leaving Iran's missiles intact and her proxies in place. It was signed over dinner at Versailles. And tonight it is celebrated in Tehran as a victory over Israel and America both.
Then you turned to the one nation that has actually bled to stop a nuclear Iran — and lectured her about restraint.
You call this sympathy. We have a longer memory than that.
Israel has never survived on the sympathy of the powerful, and she has buried every man certain he knew what was best for the Jews. Pharaoh was certain. Haman — in this very Persia whose regime you now court — held the king's signet ring and a date on the calendar, and ended on the gallows he built. Babylon was certain. Rome carved its certainty into a triumphal arch that still stands in a city of ruins, while the people it mocked rebuilt their own. Every empire was sure of its leverage. Every one is now a chapter in someone else's book — and the someone is us.
You speak of isolation as though it were a verdict. We have heard that verdict in a dozen languages across thirty centuries. We mourned. We endured. We outlived the men who pronounced it.
Now hear what is written, because you have entered a story older than this administration.
The prophet Ezekiel foresaw a latter day when a vast coalition — Gog of Magog, with Persia at its side — would mass against a restored Israel like a cloud covering the land. And in the hour she appears to stand utterly alone, deliverance comes not from the armies of men. The earth convulses. Confusion falls until every invader's sword turns on his brother. Fire and hailstones rain from heaven. When it ends, Israel does not call for foreign aid to clear the field — she burns the weapons of her enemies for seven years. And the nations are made to understand whose people these are: they shall know that I am the LORD.
Israel's survival was never indexed to American approval. She needs no memorandum, no signature at a French palace, no fourteen points authored by men who will be out of office before the ink fades. Your pressure is a footnote in a chapter finished before any of us were born.
Genesis 12:3 has not been repealed: I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse. It is not a slogan. It is the operating principle of history — and the evidence is every empire I just named. President Trump built a historic friendship on that truth, and the blessing followed the friendship. It does not follow the pressure. America's standing before God is not secured by lecturing the Jewish state into weakness; it is secured by standing with her when it is hard.
So before this country lectures Israel again, remember the pattern, because it is unbroken: every generation produces men — powerful, clever, sure of their own good intentions — convinced they know what is best for the Jews. And every generation has been corrected, not by the Jews, but by history, and by the God who keeps His covenant.
Politicians come and go. Administrations rise and fall. Memorandums are signed and quietly broken.
The Jewish people endure.
Small in size.
Ancient in history.
Unbreakable in spirit.
She does not seek your permission to survive. She will defend herself because she must — and because the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob fights for her, as He always has.
