If any foreign country conducted its elections like California, they would be accused of corruption and illegitimacy.
- Ballots are mailed to all registered voters, even if unrequested and regardless of current voter eligibility/proof of current address/life status.
- Ballots are accepted as long as they are mailed and postmarked by Election Day and received up to 7 days after the Election, or dropped off at an official county "drop box" at any time beginning four weeks before the Election until Election Day.
- No proof of identity is required at polling places, but mailed ballots must be signed. Any signatures that are deemed not to match those on file may then be "cured" upon inspection by a County Clerk/Registrar of Voters (all of whom are Democrats in California).
- The process of tabulating ballots can take up to four weeks after the Election after which the totals must be certified.
